I know some guys on here will think I'm crazy but I just picked up an immaculate 1D Mk1 for a great price. What a super camera...

Yes, it's a great piece of work! I tried it before and the result was great. The one shot 45 AF-point was very accurate. The reason why I didn't get it merely because of the 4MP CCD. If it was 6MP, I won't get my current 1D MkIII. Anyway, I still miss that 1st generation 1 series DSLR.fusionphotowrote:I know some guys on here will think I'm crazy but I just picked up an immaculate 1D Mk1 for a great price. Great low cost introduction to the 1-series. I love mine for sports - focus grabbing is far better than on my 20D.Stuart -- - -

I had mine (1D) for along time from mid 2001 to late 2006. Traded it, a 20D, D60 in for a 40D and some used lenses. Waiting to the next 1D (IV) to come out or maybe pick up a used 1DSmk3I had no problems with AF, frame rate was great, accesories. And it worked well enough to get me in to Sport Ilustrated, 15 times.

The only things I didn't like were no zoom in previews and mine could not see some shades of purple which would come out dark blue. Other shades of purple in the same shot would be reproduced accurately. Also the weak anti-alias filter can getcha so watch out for rainbows in anything with lots of dark horizontal and/or vertical lines.Oh, one more thing. The screws holding the hot-shoe to the body can become loose, making the flash intermittent. You can tighten them up with thread lock glue.I used the original 1D for many years.
