The EF 24-70 F2.8 L on a FF would offer 4 stops over the EF-S 17-55 F2.8 on a crop. You cant use your EF-S lens on the 5DMk2.

I think that you will find that F4 on FF, for a given focal length, gives slightly less DOF (i.e. more 'subject isolation') than F2.8 on a crop body. If I recall correctly, the F4 on FF gives DOF approx equal to F2.2 on a crop.

In your previous post since you have upgraded from a 30D to a 5DMk2 then your EF 24-108 F4 IS would have covered what the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS could have offered and more your 5DMk2.Well, as I mentioned in detail, several mores, and several lesses. The EF 24-70 F2.8 L on a FF would offer 4 stops over the EF-S 17-55 F2.8 on a crop.1) The EF 24-70/2.8 L is a well-respected lens. But it doesn’t have the magic ‘IS’ designator. If it had, I’d be all over it. As it is, I can only hope that someone (Canon? Tamron?) will come out with a stabilized version. Soon.2) I guess I’m a little slow here. Your corrected comment states that the 24-70/2.8 L on the 5D2 would offer 1.3 stops more than the 17-55/2.8 IS. The IS, on the 30D, provides me an added 4 stops. Now how can the 24-70, without IS, provide anything near? You cant use your EF-S lens on the 5DMk2.I am PAINFULLY aware of that!

I love my 5D II, and just got a mini-HDMI cable from Monoprice so I can show my photos on my HD TV.With the 5D II, once a photo has been taken with AutoRotate turned off, is it possible by going to the menu to rotate a photo and get the camera to remember that I want it rotated and leave it in the new orientation, so that I don't have to re-rotate it everytime I want to look at it?

Well I kept my 40D body so I can use my 10 to 22 canon ef-s lens but in practice I get to the point of not wanting to carry the second body so now I see that I will have to get a 17 to 40 l lens for the full frame. My regular salesman suggested I wait and see if Canon has another instant $100 rebate sale. The 5D mk2 really spoils me rotten so now I use it most of the time. I still like having the 40D as a back up spare.Howard

I guess I will sell it. It is in perfect shape, not that I'm trying to sell it here or anything, which is not allowed.

On the PC the included viewer rotates the file in-place, which is normally a bummer, but good for this.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping to do it in my camera, like you can with "select and delete" or even one at a time.

Wolfy950

Nope! I tried this and it makes the image on the card unreadable by the camera. I can't view it on the camera or on the TV.
