....the RC races that is. This is one of the biggest races of the year, the 22nd annual Cactus Classic.This was to be my first 'real' attempt at taking photographs, not just pictures. I wanted these to look like they were NOT taken with any ol' camera. I think I did OK gven my expereance with this (read.. any) camera.There was a guy shooting that flew in from Europe to shoot for the biggest website for this hobby. He had amazing equipment.. and I learned a LOT from him in the few questions I was brave enough to ask. If you're by chance a member here, thank you!I shot the first 20 or so with my ISO at 1600.. oops.. Some came out real grainey even so though.Thought I was having focus issues.. but I think it was the nature of the subject I wa shooting, and my lens combo. On my list is the 70-200 f/4.Here are a few of my favorites, followed by a link to the album on Picasa. (BTW any better hosting service that you guys reccomend?)This was also the first time I've tried to 'pan' anything... Everything just started to 'click' for me.. If I wanted a certain result.. Congratulations on your first attempt.No's 1 & 2 are not really very good, you have the cars too blurred, its a difficult shot as the cars are not only moving sideways but also coming at you a little (probably need AI servo and centre point only for focus).No 3 Cant tell whether its moving or stationary, poor background choice, need slightly contrasty backgound or some features to show the panning effectNo4 is obviously a static shot.No5 is the best because you get the sensation of speed, good panning with just a slow enough shutter speed to slightly blurr the car.Keep up the good work, its only a matter of practice once you get the Camera settings right
