Sorry to say (I think)... I'm going to Nikon due to lack of 18-200mm

That's it! I had enough of it. We've been loosing GOOD Canon users to Nikon and what I'll do now is go to the Nikon forum and convince some of those guys to switch over to Canon. -- PeterCan't put boots in the oven and call them cookies.

...and I would love a 10-400 f/2.8L with next-gen 4-5 stop IS.Not going to happen, though...and even if it did, I wouldn't be able to afford it.

Quote from your previous threads:"Carrying more than the camera with one lens on it is not an option;)"Why not get one of these really excellent P/S if you only want one walk around lens??? They are smaller cost less ...CheersToppewrote:I've been waiting and waiting for Canon to release an 18-200 IS USM like Nikon have but... nope... Still nothing. I've been fooling around with a D80 with a 18-200 VR on it... and I gotta say... Canon has missed this one... It's an excelent match and a dream to work with.But... I will be back the day Canon launches an 18-200 IS USM;)So long for now folks. See ya around:)

Lens options are better for what I am after and my business partners all shoot Canon.I had a play with the 30D, BGE2 and 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM today at the store, feels very well balanced in the hand, better than the D70 (as there is no OEM vertical grip available)!

the reason for the one lens solution is that they are lazy. there is no do-it-all lense for every application. a p & s pos would be a better idea -- http://www.tonybphotos.com
