No Fv Mode on the R50?

Wiedehopf

Perhaps not a well considered question, but given that with the 'R' and 'RP' or even earlier Canon invented what, to me, is just about the best new mode since 'sliced bread' why would they not include this on the R50? My EOS RP is really an entry level mirrorless camera but includes this (and C1, C2 etc.).I may be in a minority of one, and the R50 is no doubt an excellent addition to the Canon range, but for me the lack of 'Fv' would be a 'deal breaker'.

My guess is that Canon reserves Fv mode for cameras that have at least 2 on-body dials.

Yes, it's a bit of a surprising omission as it seems to be something of a general-purpose/beginner focused mode - you'd think the R50 audience would be one that would make use of this. But, apparently Canon expects them to just use auto mode. But, the point about 2 dials is fair, although the control ring does provide a 2nd ring that should be viable for this.I'm seriously considering the R50 as a secondary/backup body, and suspect that I'd largely run in 'manual with auto-ISO' with the lens control ring controlling aperture and the dial controlling shutter.

Lack of Fv mode is the least of my worries about the R50, mainly because I use Fv to reach the exp comp and ISO controls rather than to swap between what would effectively be Av and Tv modes.  I miss it on the 5Ds (I don't use it often enough to remember which of the row of four buttons is which), but not on my various EOS M cameras.  With those it's quicker to dab on the screen exp comp scale or the ISO setting and adjust with the control dial than to rotate the rear dial to highlight them and then adjust. It would be more difficult to do the former while squinting through the little EVF of the R50 as you would be relying on muscle memory of the positions on the screen rather than feeling for a physical button.
