CANON EOS R "err 30" although it works perfect

Salva Velasco

I have an EOS R that has been showing me "ERR 30".I have looked all over the web, in English and Spanish and I cannot solve this. In theory it is a shutter error and in the technical service the solution they give is to change it (minimum €350). I tell you: I turn on the camera, it gives me the ERR 30; I turn it off and turn it back on and I can take all the photos I want; until I turn it off again and, if a while passes, when I turn it on it gives the error again. Turned it off and on and it works perfectly. I have reset the camera, removed the battery for a whole day, blown, removed the memory card, blown the whole camera, etc. What strikes me the most is that it only gives me the error with "SILENT LIVE VIEW SHOOTING" (page 150 of the manual) in "MODE 1" (that is: electronic first curtain). If I leave it in "DISABLED" (that is, totally manual), it doesn't give me an error. It is becoming clear to me that nothing is wrong with the shutter, which is another problem. Any ideas mates?Thank you very much for your help

A workaround I found was to close the shutter when shutting down the camera. The Canon RP doesn’t offer this as an option on the menu, like the Canon R7 or others, but you can activate it by starting the sensor cleaning manually and then powering the camera off. If I leave the shutter closed, I have no problem the next time I work with my RP.
