which is better for landscape photography. Does weather conditions, windy with leaves and branches moving, or water moving( waterfalls, waves on a lake or ocean, a fast flowing stream) determine which focus mode you use.

Single. I can't think of a good reason to use continuous for landscapes ...

Ear Mountain

Continuous focus is used for subjects that are moving toward or away from the camera. Landscapes generally stay put. The motions of leaves in the wind or water will not benefit from Continuous focus.

Drive mode is Single or Continuous shooting. AF is One Shot, AI focus or AI Servo.

With the focus activation switched to the back button, it makes no difference (it only focuses when you press the button) and there is no downside to using AI-Servo on static subjects. Whether the landscape has moving leaves or water makes no difference; you generally wouldn't use those as focusing targets anyway, in either mode.Dave -- http://www.pbase.com/dsjtecserv
