16-35 L II - strange behaviour?

SKumar

Hi,Has anyone who's used this lens seen the strange phenomena (fuzziness in areas of the frame @ f/4) described at the bottom of this linked page?http://www.potd.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2631&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0I am considering buying this lens and was wondering if this is anything to be concerned about.Cheers.

I only have pictures at f 2.8, 3.2 and 3.5 - 16 mm. and no problem.at 35 mm and 24. is little soft at the edges, but very sharp at the center.

I wanted to up grade from my 16-35L V1 to V2 for that very same reason. I had assumed that Cannon had fixed the problem. Thank you for the tests. If it is of any relevance at all, I pluged my 40D into my laptop, switched to live view and zoomed into the corners. Pulling the lens in and out of focus resulted in exactly the same "camera shake blurr" as you have displayed. However the blurr would be smearing horizontaly on closer focusing, smearing vertically on further focus points.
