iPad Pro as Tethered Viewer?

d2mini

I'm really just wanting to use a stand-mounted iPad Pro tethered (hard-wired or remote) as a viewer in studio. Shutter control of the camera from the ipad would be nice. I still want the images to go to the card inside the camera.Best way to achieve this?

Wanted to check and see if there were other options to try as well.

The app can do this, as well as let you adjust ISO, etc.  It is a bit buggy though for some users, can be slow, resolution isn't the greatest, etc.  If this is going to be a in studio only type of thing, you can use any HDMI capable TV or computer monitor for viewing in full screen size, even at 4K if it's capable.  Way better than the app's 720p or whatever resolution you'll get.  As for a remote, you could use the app on a phone or tablet for shutter release only, which works way better than running the app for "live view".  There are also wired and wireless triggers you can buy for cheap that you could use no problem. If the goal is to be able to view the shot before you shoot and make sure everything is nice or be able to quickly hit the review button on the camera and see if you like the image, I would go for a TV or monitor, or even a on camera field monitor vs using the app.

But another option is the app Cascable, which is a very powerful app that allows you to tether over wi-fi or cable.

A better choice simply because you can use it in landscape orientation, among all its other nice features.  While I find the Fuji app works OK when I use it, which is rarely, its not great and I think the user experience is worse on the iPad than a phone.

If it works well, might as well just fork over the 30 bucks one time to own the app.Took me a while to figure out how to connect. You have to connect to the camera's internal wifi from your device.

USBC porthttps://amzn.to/3f564C9I already have the iPad but this could be worth it, not having to deal with the wifi or bt connections and delays.

One time payment, monthly sub, or quarterly sub. This is also explained under the preview section in the App Store.

Hi! i got so exited when i read about cascable, but did you mean a non-cable connection with a fujifilm camera? They state that it does not work with Fuji cams in their list. i just downloaded the thing and now i'm back to square one.I need a way to tether to an ipad (mini 4). Just let the art director see what i see in cam, or rather see what i shoot. Was so disappointed that the fuji remote app turns my Fuji X-T3 viewfinder and display blind. Am i missing something? Thanks everyone!

At least thats been a limitation of the Fuji's I've owned ( all older bodies at this point). The wifi connection seems to take over. What has worked that way for me in the past was an app called Shuttersnitch. I've used it much like you're use case: pure image review ( not remote operation) doing real estate photos. The person reviewing had to stay close by, as the camera/card wifi isn't very strong. This was years ago, before they went to a subscription model. The app worked for me both connected to a Nikon's wifi and also a wireless SD card like an 'Eye-Fi' or 'Toshiba Air' back before cameras were coming with bluetooth and wifi of their own. Not sure if it'd work with native Fuji wifi, but maybe worth looking into.

huck222

Thank you! Well, i guess i would not go with a subscription model, since i rarely need it. maybe will just try if it works technically and then pay when needed.. I'm really really surprised that there seems to be very very few solutions, even though in cam Wifi is around for years now...
