Seriously considering buying this lens. Interested in what you use this lens for. Post a comment or a photo, or both!

Have to take care of the background as its bokeh leaves something to be desired. It will produce onion rings if point sources of light are in the background. Good lens and a very good value. The best attributes are compact and fast with nice rendering but the rendering is a stop down from the 35 f1.4 and 56 f1.2. Works really well with the Pro3 OVF.

You won't be disappointed with this lens, it's quite versatile.Sapphire Tower (Puya alpestris)A rare specimen that hails from Chile in the Andes Mountains. I have this as part of my X-Pro2 setup with the 16mm f2.8 & 23mm f2.I find this an excellent small telephoto well matched to the X-Pro line of cameras. Certainly wouldn't be without it.Some examples belowHope this helps, but definitely go and buy itAndy

Thanks for sharing that Truman! Nice photos. I hear that the contrast is pleasing on this lens versus other Fuji 50mm including the 56.

I love it for its size and colors/contrast. Excellent walkaround lens, portraits, etc.

Hmmm that 35 1.4 has some nice bokeh, but, the Color seems a bit off, is it your white balance? Skin looks slightly magenta. Nice shots though, precious moments.

I would have never been able to get his shot with the 50 f2. First of all this was taken at 1.2 on the 56. Secondly, the background was really gnarly - with all sorts of specular reflections off the sink faucet, toaster, etc in the kitchen. The 50 would have issues with rendering this background smoothly. For the 56 (and I expect the 50 f1 ) it is a "piece of cake." The 50 is a good lens and a great value but it does have a few warts. I would have never tried to use it for this shot. On the other hand it is half the size and half the price of the 56.

I like it, even though I use it rarely, but it is small enough to put in a bag on the off-chance, versatile and can be very effective.https://flic.kr/ps/2Ufs7e

I shot a few portraits and other things with the 50. The 56 did take over the portraits later, but I still have the 50 and find it a really nice, small, fast lens - good for many different subjects and situations. Not leaving my bag.Indoor portrait in limited light - Marcado San Miguel, Madrid Ciarrán Curran playing the bouzouki at Irish Music Festival in Denmark. From the greenhouse. This is f/4, but the bokeh is behaving like Truman says here. Greek rebetiko concert with Turkish singer Cigdem Aslan. Portrait of a former UNHCR photographer. He was a neighbor to a late uncle of mine. We used to sit in the garden and the stories he would tell were just incredible. Morning bicyclist

You all are making this too easy for me to go out and buy this lens!Honestly finding myself using my 5DIV less and less these days and just loving using my pro3 with the 23 f/2. I have my bag with me everywhere I go and find that the smaller, compact kit gets me out shooting more, so having the 23 f/2 on the pro3 with the 50 f/2 in the bag would make me feel comfortable I’ll be covered in most shots when I’m out.
