Nice set. Just curious, would this equate to the equivalent of 675mm angle of view with the crop factor of the tc and aps-c?

In Dpreview's review of the XF 70-300 with 2x teleconverter, they criticized color fringing and slow AF, as you might expect from a 2x teleconverter.Is the 1.4x better in both regards?

In the middle of the day with the sun straight above my subject, a small bird, at f8(wide open with 1.4x) I got a little glow around the subject edges but otherwise the results were great. i think the 1.4x is a must for anyone looking to get the 70-300, I can’t stress how big of a deal is for a hobbyist(or even a pro) to have 630mm f8 in a super compact and very capable  lens, this lens is always in my small sling bag where other 100-400 bazookas always ended up being sold off

It's exactly this. The smaller lighter setup is something you may bring on some more occasional hike or when you must travel light. Sure the 100-400 is better, or even an adapter 600/4 or so, but only few people will bring stuff like this along.

Great to see some results being shared from this lens. It is very tempting and would balance much better on my smaller x-cam than the 100-400.
