Strange behavior x100v

Morten Rasmussen

I have noticed a strange and annoying behavior on my camera. When I’m out in bright sunlight and turn on the camera to take a photo leaving the lens cap on, then it takes forever for the x100v to adjust the light and the screen is filled with blinkies for quite some time, when I remove the cap. The problem does not occur when I remember to remove the cap before turning the camera on. It is quite annoying.Do you guys see the same problem and do you have a fix for it?best regardsMorten

Does the exposure change right away after removing the lens cap and 1/2 pressing the shutter?    I don't use pre-Shot, I wonder if that might be something to check too.

Same as with my copy

It takes about a second on my copy, but I don't call that 'forever'.

If so, the waiting time depends on the shutter speed. If you aperture was set to f11 and ISO to 100, then you might wait long time.

As stated in the OP, I didremove the lens cap before taking the photo 😊 Its hard to imagine that the screen would be full of blinkies with the lens cap on, since the camera only use blinkies for overexposed parts of the image as far as I know.Best regardsMorten

It takes more than a second… sometimes closer to 5-7 seconds, but it’s not consistent sometimes it’s faster!

About pre-shot I don’t know because I don’t know what that is, could you guide me to the setting in the menu?best regards

This isn't much different from the way my eyes work. If I suddenly open them in bright light, I'm blinded for a short period. The camera behaves that way too when it turned on with the lens cap off in bright light and you now cover the lens with your hand for couple of seconds and remove your hand. The X100T and F as well as the X-T3 behave the same way. My guess is that there in no way around it. Nand.
