I got the new Summicron- SL 50/2... and I'm keeping it!

My Summicron- SL 50/2 arrived yesterday from B&H. (I got it with an SL2S for the $1300 rebate.) I've only done a few casual 'at home' snapshots but I already know I'm keeping it.Funny, it may VERY WELL be the exact same lens as the Panasonic 50/2, but it feels good - the Panasonic was just SO PLASTICKY I couldn't get on with it. I *think* the IQ on these images is a bit better than the Panasonic ones but without a side by side comparison I definitely can't tell for sure. But overall I'm pleased - they are sharp, good quality, and the lens feels good.Just figured I'd share these samples here as I know there aren't too many around yet...

The $1300 rebate is something else, the kit is priced so that with the rebate, you get the camera for $300 less than list price and the lens is free. I imagine it wouldn't be hard to sell the lens alone for a decent price and end up with a camera priced like a Sony FF.

Looks really good! EnjoyI think it‘s curious that DPR has not even mentioned these new lenses in the news section.

How is your new SL 50 marked, made in Japan or Portugal ? Thanks !

There is obvious CA on the edges of the background photo frames in the first picture (if I'm not wrong), very similar to the IQ performance of the Panasonic 50mm f1.8. I have that lens and feel familiar. Both are good lenses, compact, light weight.
