Gear for a weekend in Prague

My first time. I am so excited. 21/28/35mm all present and correct. And they fit in my coat pocket. What would you add?

Would it be heretical to suggest that a better question might be “What can I remove?” To which I might respond ‘one lens (the 28mm?) and the electronic blower’. Unless the trip is specifically photographic, don’t spoil a couple of days in a lovely city by carrying too much equipment!
the decent exposure
Why do you need a blower ??let it in the hotel. 21 28 and 35 mm, weird setup. Just go with 28 and leave all the other shot in the hotel

Going to leave it all in the hotel and take the body, 28 and one of the other two as and when needed. The 28 weighs 160g and the 35 not much more. I want the 21 just in case I want so extra wide shots. But yes. I agree. Minimal gear works best and with that 28 pretty much everything from 2m out is in focus. Which makes it much more easy to focus on being there and enjoying the city.

I can see leaving the blower. But I would carry the lenses, filter and evf. It has been my experience that the lens I wanted for a shot was the one I left behind. Depending on where I was going, I would want the evf for low light situations. Granted I haven’t been using my M very long, but I find it more difficult to focus using the rangefinder in dimly lit situations.

You don’t say where you’re from, but if you’re not used to them, mediaeval cities have very narrow streets and tight perspectives. I’d fit the 35mm and keep the 21mm with me at all times, covering the gap by cropping the 21mm images as needed. Conversely, the 28mm probably provides the best compromise single lens solution. The last couple of times I visited Prague, I used a 24-70 zoom as my only lens and didn’t feel too constrained.Incidentally, make sure to have morning coffee/afternoon tea in the cafe of the Municipal House - a gem which doesn’t seem to appear in the lists of essential sights!

Here's a typical Prague scene.

For 1 weekend, I'd bring max 2 lenses. Not because of space/weight, but for simplicity.I'd ditch the filter + tripod.I'd suggest adding a battery-charger.Have fun in CZ, and enjoy a few nice Pivos!

Having been to Prague a half dozen times I'd suggest a two lens setup ...a 24 and a 50. But that might just be me.If you don't have or care to acquire either or both, never mind, just go with what you've got.

I'm going to Prague with the family for a long weekend over Easter and I'm taking a similar setup, just a bit less - my M11 with 35mm APO.I might be tempted to also take my 21mm Super-Elmar and Visoflex, but I normally find that I can make just the 35mm work for me.

Equipment selection is highly personal! If it were me, I'd take just one of those wide angle lenses, maybe the 28. But then I'd add the 90mm macro Elmar. It's very compact, and I've found it to be an extremely useful focal length in urban settings. You can't always "zoom with your feet"!In addition, and again this is just for me, I've found that my results improve when I'm not trying to "include more", but when I'm consciously working to "select from". Rather than trying to juxtapose three elements just because they happen to fall into my shot, I'd rather be selective and take three shots. The placement of elements in a setting is often accidental, and I don't need accident or happenstance selecting what's in my photographs just because something happens to be there.Again, that's just me, and I mention it only in the hope another perspective might prove helpful. Your needs are yours! Enjoy your trip!
