Nikon d5200 quality lenses please .
twelvebellys
Just bought a Nikon d5200 and moved away from my old Olympus Epl1 . The Olympus has served me well for a few years , so now moved on to the Nikon d5200 .Ok I have only 2 lenses at moment kit lens 18 -55mm and just purchased the 50mm 1,8g nikon , I require a decent zoom either 70 300mm or 70 200mm as long as its a god quality lens to make the most of that sensor.I wouldl also like a wide angle lens but not neceesarily a UWA lens as its for Landscape a af is not a must and I dont mind using primes either .Ok budget £300 -£500 for the zoom and £200 for the wide lens 28mm or 35mm any advice would be great thank you . Please bear in mind quality is the key here so I dont mind purchasing used if the quality of lens is worth it over a new one.

Usually about US$400. See reviews on Third Party Lens forum.http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/53516092Nikon 35mm f/1.8 would be an option at that price, but it's not very wide. There aren't too many wide primes for the D5200, so many prefer zooms such as Sigma 18-35mm, 17-50mm or 17-70mm. These are just about as good as the budget primes, (IMO).

Thanks Wrycuda , the 35mm was already on my list as a lens purchase next 2 weeks but as you say its not very wide. The Tamron looks good value but to me there are issues surrounding build quality so I would prefer the Nikon 70 300 mm afs its £60 more or @ $100 but still think its has less problems concerning build quality than Tamron.May look at a used sigma 24mm 1.8 g as well .I know you can still get 20mm nikon d primes but not cheap so see what comes up .

I'll be interested to see what you think of the Nikon.I find the Sigma 17-70mm a good general-purpose lens, as is the Nikon 18-140mm, which is surprisingly good at 18mm:http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/53551674
