Coming from a D300 which needed to be upgraded. Thought of switching to the Canon 70D, or even more drastic the Olympus OM-D EM-1. Made the switch to the D7100 and absolutely love it, I am a believer, this camera is the best DX camera out there.

I'm baffled by someone registering on DPR only to post one simplistic review of a camera or lens and then disappearing. Can someone explain why they do this? It's not a big deal, but it's seems almost spam-like and it's mildly irritating. Are they just trying to drive some traffic to a website (i.e. BRPhotography or some iteration thereof)? If so, I would think these "reviews" would not be welcome. Just wondering....Brian

A new member may legitimately choose to start their DPReview membership with a review.Having said that, member BRPhotography doesn't seem to be settling in. His or her profile is empty except for the D7100.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been following along with the reviews and articles on this site for quite sometime. Just a guy with the initials BR, who loves photography and decided to sign up. There used to be a BRPhotography company many years ago, but now it is just a hobby again and thought this community of amateurs to pros would be good way to get back into it.

Welcome I wouldnt worry about it too much... for some reason sometimes people around here seem "alergic" lol at this kinda of stuff. Same like putting watermark on images is some kind of bad thing or something. I dont shoot for money ( a t m) for last 4 or so years ...that doesnt mean i shouldnt be able to share images i like etc. ( especially what baffles me is many challenges here prohibit watermarks of any sort ?!?) Oh well Shake it off and enjoy. World is not perfect -- http://www.pbase.com/jps1979/galleries

Well humble apologies, BR. I just find it strange that there are frequent reviews submitted by individuals, who join, post the review and are never heard from again. Typically, these reviews contain no information other than a brief statement of praise, and they seem to smack of spam-like posting. Since you're not one of those, I hope you decide to continue posting.Regards, Brian

I don't find it strange at all. When people get a new toy that they are amazed by, they want to tell people about it. Often significant others aren't suitable receptors to the excitement. I've signed up on forums before to announce my amazement at something... then the response is often the same as if I'd told my wife, and all goes quiet for a while.Spammers are annoying that's for sure, but it might be nice to err on the side of innocence when it comes to significant purchases with which people might just be so delighted, they're gonna burst if they don't tell someone who actually understands.BTW - just bought a D7100 and have nothing to do for two hours while I watch the battery charge.Brian in Montana wrote:Well humble apologies, BR.
