Tried a little bit of aero photography this weekend with the D7100 + 1.4x TC + 70-200mm 2.8. It was quite the learning experience and it was lots of fun seeing these awesome machines in action.1. I bought the 7100 and the 80-400mm for airshow. Haven't gone to one yet. The thing that worries me is the D7100's buffer. I had never had a problem with my other camera's buffer (several Canon bodies). Will find out next month.

These are all great captures, sharp and with all the information latently present. Photo editing is part of the photographic path. OP, you need to finish the job!

I'll give it another go tonight. I've already boosted the contrast, vibrance, and saturation on each picture in Lightroom. It was an overcast day, so the conditions weren't too great. I can get more colors on the planes, but not sure I can do much with the cloud layer in the background.

The colors in these images look true-to-life to me. Don't see why making the colors look unrealistic is a bonus. No much you can do with a milky sky.
