D-Movie on 7000/7100

Thinking about upgrading my d300 or just buying a second body(7000 or 7100) for high iso and video capabilities. From videos i've watched, it seems like continuous video focus is unusable. How difficult is it to manually focus during video with the d7***? Is the viewfinder blacked out? Focusing on the lcd might be a problem in sunlight.

It's too abrupt... it was like that on some of my mirrorless bodies as well... even my iPhone and Note 2 have an obvious pulse when focusing. How difficult is it to manually focus during video with the d7***?With practice, good smooth lenses and the right gear it can be done professionally. Focus pulls can be challenging. Is the viewfinder blacked out?Yes but you wouldn't want to use it for manual focus anyway. The LCD is a better tool.Focusing on the lcd might be a problem in sunlight.Yep, you'll need a DSLR Viewfinder. Amazon has a bunch of good ones.Hope this helps.
