I just purchased this lens for my new Nikon D810Upgraded from my DX 7200.This lens disappointed me big time.I noticed immediately that sharpness is not as good as I expected from a FX lens.I compared with my old Nikon  DX 18-140.Incredibly the DX 18-140 is sharper.I will return it even if I lose 15% restocking fee.I purchased from Bestbuy.Very disappointing lens.

When I purchased the g-1 24-70 Tamron, I found it to be soft and disappointing.   So I called Tamron and they told me to send it in to them to be calibrated.  Lens came back amazing!!! like it is a different lens.  I recommend sending it in to Tamron for calibration.

What normally works with the D600 does not work as well with the D800e (requires higher shutter speeds) or better handling to avoid motion blur which results in soft images suing the same techniques and lenses....The transition from D7100 (24.1 Mpx - APS-C - Smaller Pixels) to D750 (24.3 Mpx FF - Larger pixels) was a positive one. I was able to get much better images using the same techniques and Lenses.....My move from the other three bodies to the D850 proved that smaller pixels require better techniques, better lenses and better handling....or else you get soft images....but higher resolution....I would suggest that you work with your lens/techniques  etc to improve your image... I would bet its not the camera or lens but rather your technique....YMMV!Good luck....

Have my G2 attached to a D600 and I must say I love the lens. I was an early purchaser and it gets a lot of use. It survived a hard fall last week. ALWAYS keep your lens shade attached when you're walking outside!!!
