D750 Service bad experience
krmarf
Hi!I created a thread a couple of months back regarding my D750 getting a darker top frame in all images. Here’s the link to that thread:https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/60990308So I sent the camera to Nikon and it all went downhill from there. The first time I sent them my camera the turn around time was two weeks and when I got it back I just found a pretty letter in the camerabox that basically said they didn’t find any issues with the camera.I called them up and gave them photos as proof of the issue. They confirmed the issues and told me to send in the camera one more time, so I did.Two weeks later I get the camera back and this time around they changed the shutter! Great I thought.. But the problem was still there and if that wasn’t enough, the info display in the viewfinder suddenly dimmed itself whenever I pointed the camera to a bright scene. So I sent in the camera a third time and this time they changed the aperture mechanism.. Got back the camera yesterday, and both issues are still there and now there’s tons of debris inside the viewfinder glass..Is this a joke? I can’t even sell the camera to get rid of it because it’s not even working properlyHere’s a link to the issue with the viewfinder info dimming itself. Can anyone with a D750 confirm that their viewfinder isn’t behaving this way?https://www.dropbox.com/s/ylhnkds86wjzylh/Video%202018-06-20%2C%2014%2049%2043.mov?dl=0

send it back again, demand they do it right the 4. time around, or they can send you a d850 or d5 free of charge.

Krmarf - I'm sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble getting your D750 repaired. Before you send it in again, I'd suggest you contact Nikon support at the following link:https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/ni/NI_ask_supportI would explain the situation, provide the service order numbers from your receipts, send them some pictures of what you are encountering (low res jpegs), and request a prepaid mailing slip so you can send your camera back without out incurring any further cost.I would include this same information when you pack it up to send it back. When I've had photo issues, I've always included a cd with pictures taken in raw that show the problem. I know your are frustrated but I would keep my explanation factual. However, given the fact that the camera has been back multiple time, I would request that they not return the camera until it is fully tested with a clean viewfinder (underlined). I feel your pain on that one. On two separate occasions I've returned a camera to Nikon service to have them clean out the debris they introduced into the viewfinder during the repair. Finally, once I mailed it, I would call and ask to talk with a call center supervisor. Nikon has this crappy set up where you can't talk with anyone in their actual service center, i.e., the place where they work on the cameras. I'd try to get the call center supervisor to alert the service center folks to give your camera priority service and actually get it fixed this time.Good luck getting your camera fixed.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience! I had the opposite of yours about three weeks ago.Last year, after having taken thousands upon thousands of photos, I managed to snap one with the shutter shading issue in Mammoth. I decided this would be a good opportunity to take advantage and get a free cleaning, as well as a new shutter and new rubber grip. I created the service ticket but waited a whole year to send it in because in reality the shutter shading issue is a non-issue for me personally. Like I said, it took tens of thousands of shots to end up with one.I recently got a dog hair stuck in there somehow and as hard as I tried, I could not get it out myself. Feeling defeated, I finally sent it in to Nikon Los Angeles and not only did they replace the shutter, but they cleaned the camera inside and out and replaced the rubber grip for free! I sent the camera in on a Friday and had it back in my hands the next Thursday. That's great service and fast!I hope your next service goes as well as mine did. Good luck!

I've sent all of my Nikons to Nikon service in Melville NY including one that went into the Atlantic, they always did a great job and returned my cameras in good working order.

to follow up on my former comment. As a former D750 shooter, i was very happy with the service provided by Nikon Denmark. My, at the time 2 year old boy, had got a hold of my camera and abused it. I think at the time it was a month old. I Sent it in for a repair knowing i would have to pay. but 12 days later, it returned like new, with a note saying "Nikon cameras should be able to withstand a 2 year old" i did'nt pay a dime for thath repair.

If its a Nikon service centre then they should try and be the same but they will still have different engineers. If it's outsourced to a 3rd party then again levels of service will be different.I am glad Denmark is OK, I also have no problems within the U.K. however, we don't know where the poster resides.
