D810 Live View OK button zoom reset
Heyseuss Hoolio
On my D610, when in live view, I can zoom in with the "+" and obtain critical focus on stationary objects, then press the center OK button on the dial pad and it zooms back out all the way.How can I do this on the D810? I've tried looking in the menu's setting different configurations and I cannot repeat this. I can hit the "i" button, which zooms back out but brings up a menu, then half press the shutter button to exit out. Which isokI guess, but is there a way to just press the OK button? If it makes a difference, I use back button autofocus on both cameras with the half press of shutter as exposure lock.

There are options for what it does during playback, shooting, and live view. By default for live view it is set to Reset so that like when using the VF it moves the focus point back to the center. If you want it to zoom in and out like during playback set the live view setting to "Zoom on/off" and choose medium if you want it to zoom to 100%edit:Also just to clarify the multi sector button on the D8xx series cameras in not the same as the OK button even thought it often appears they do the same thing. They are two distinct and different buttons unlike the D610 which has the OK button and the multi selector button combined into one button. This is probably why you had trouble finding the right setting.

This works better too, in live view, instead of hitting the zoom button I can just hit the center to go full zoom and back out.

I can see why the default is rest for consistency in how the AF points work but it is way more convenient to set it too zoom on/off if you are zooming in and out in live view a lot instead of having to hitting the + button a bunch of times to zoom in. What I wish is that you could custom set the zoom steps for the +/- buttons so you could still have the multi selector button set to reset and get instant zooming in and out with the +/- buttons by setting + to 100% and - to fully zoomed out.

I've owned my D810 for a week now. Just starting to get used to it. In trying to configure the camera, I'm trying to use the Multi Selector Center Button to zoom in live view.No matter what I try, I cannot get it to zoom. I can get it to do either nothing (None) or go back to the initial image (RESET). But if I set it to Zoom (either 50%, 100% or 200%), it does the same function as RESET.When I go back to check the f2 menu option, it's set to Zoom. It just doesn't Zoom,What could I be doing wrong? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Of course, after struggling with this for days then giving up and asking the question here, I figure it out in less than an hour.I had the Live View AF-area mode set to subject-tracking AF. Seems like in this mode, the multi selector center button will only do a reset. In the other three AF-area modes, the zoom option works.

I got this working in AF-S mode in live view by setting focus area to norm or wide. The one-click zoom doesn't seem to work in live view in AF-S mode when set to single point focus area.
