Still Working Almost 19 Years Later

Carl Maiorino

Bought it in February of 2004.  All the batteries I bought with are still good…

My oldest (and much loved) camera is a Kowa Six made in 1968 but which I bought in 1976 in Amsterdam. It's a 6x6 film camera (now that's what 'full frame' means to me). It still works and I still use it from time to time.My oldest DSLR is a Nikon D70 which I bought in 2004. It still works, I still use it and it has one very specific benefit: proper high-speed flash x-sync of up to 1/8000s - not the kludgy FP mode of more modern cameras.Robin on 1976 Kowa/Six photographed (in 2004) with a 2004 D70

Excellent!I still have most all my Nikon bodies from an F2S on up.  The only one that ever died was my D70.  The sensor failed and I guessed it wasn't cost-effective to repair it.

Impressive.I used a D100 for a year at a weekly newspaper in Tennessee that I was working at.I found it to be a completely capable camera in regard to resolution and AF speed and resolution. It was usable at ISO 1600 as well, much better than the D1, which I had used earlier.AF speed on the D100 is deceptive. I used to use it with the screw-drive 80-200 f/2.8. AF seems to be slow on the camera, if you just point it at something and note how long it takes for focus to be achieved. Despite this, it was tracking *everything* I threw at it.It reminds me of the F4's AF speed, which was the same way. Felt slow. But it tracked everything, even high school basketball.Although it was a competent camera, I did not like the D100. I thought it had too much plastic. The D200 resolves most of my D100 complaints. And the D200's color is nicer.

I had a D200 but I gave it to my nephew many years ago.  Battery life on the D200 was awful, that was a huge issue for me.  Looking forward to having some fun with this old relic...image quality was always good shooting raw and keeping the ISO at 500 or below...

Clearly...19 years later and they look like they are still good.  Will find out soon, it's begging for an adventure...

Got my D100 in Mid 2002 as a Nikon Refurb and it is still going strong today as I have passed it off to my daughter.2002-2004 was my main body until I picked up a D2x then it was religated to my secondary body used for closeup photos or my long range body with my Sigma 500 f/4The D100 has out lived the D2x, D80, D90, D200, D300 and D500's and just might out live my current D7500.

Which I think prevented the camera from being fired. This firmware resolves an issue which, in rare cases, causes the battery indicator to blink whilst shooting regardless of the level of charge in the battery.

My D100 is the only Nikon dslr that I own that has failed.  It's been so many years ago, that I forgot just what the failure mode was.  I still have it though.

I still have my D100 in good working condition, sitting somewhere in my apartment. It was my first Nikon DSLR.

Rambow

Congratulations.

Great picture, too bad it's edited.... The details of the bird are a little too crisp.... The original would be better.

Carl Maiorino

Thanks…I most certainly did

But for me, the crisp details work in this shot. The only thing I regret is that the little bird is detracting from the real star of that shot: that beautiful Kowa 66

A particularly meaningful period in my life - so I have great sentimental attachment to the Kowa.

All the lenses I've purchased in the last 15 years are still working perfectly... all the camera's I've purchased in the last 10 years are ALSO working perfectly.  I had over 300,000 shutter clicks on a D700 that I sold at the camera swap meet for $600 alittle over 5 years ago... love Nikon gear!Everly loves Nikons too!
