CharlesB58wrote:Very good capture of the moment and expression. Technically, though, the border of the selection you used for bringing up the face is pretty obvious on the lower jaw and chin. Clean this up a bit and it's a wonderful portrait. No selective adjustments were done, maybe it is oversharpened but I am not seeing it.I did not bring up the face, but I've added vigneting.Thank you for the comments.

Wonderful portrait, maybe it needS a liitle more contrast but that is all.Great composition and use of textures. The comment about your roots is xenophobic and ignorant. If it was meant to be funny, it is definetly not.You responded with art, which is very elegant. -- BjornBudd was my computer games alter ego... My name is João Afonso Ferreira, I'm from Portugal. This is lovely --lighting and evocation of the personality of the subject.I find low key portraits hard, so am full of admiration of your technique. I particularly like the small area of highlit textile below the face to the right. I know this is supposed to be C&C, but all I have to say is its very good. -- Honorine, aka Jill

Im lookin' at about the same light level right now out my window.... almost 1700 on the chronometer as I type.Back-lighting makes the darker trees look near black to my eyes... -- Larry Lynch Mystic, ConnecticutIn all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane. Oscar Wilde

Captured with a tripod-mounted E5 and 12-60 SWD. Was out looking for a classic West Texas sunset one evening during a week of shooting at Palo Duro Canyon when I came across this scene..

Honestly I didn't expect any reaction at all on this image, so you surprised me but I like to be surprisedThanks BillLou-Bootstrapwrote: Nice Lou. I like the treatment.Bill Turner

That's a great place for a stroll, lots of beautiful shot to make there.Very Nice portrait of that old lady btw, did you take the 70-300 handheld on you E3 in that quite dark looking circumstances as the 70-300 could be hunting by higher F numbers? Oh in case of the vignetting you mentioned yourself I think maybe a bit less in the upper left corner.Cheers Lou-BjornBuddwrote:No archives this week, this one is fresh! This weekend I went with a group of friends to Peneda-Gerês National Park in the north of Portugal. We rented a recovered old stone house in a small village. We visited some of the villages nearby which, except for summer, are deserted and with a very old remaining population.Nevertheless they welcome tourists and hikers with a lot of simpathy and they apreciate when you take the time to chat with them. I always enjoy that experience since my ealy teens when I was a scout and we hiked a lot in the isolated villages in various regions of Portugal.Anyway, during one those chats I was able to wonder a bit and step back to shoot from a distance. This is one of my favorite portraits of weekend.Actually the weekend was more prolific in people shots than in landscape. As for PP, the usual tricks apply with LR ("A Farewell to Arms)"and Nik Color Efex ("Glamour Glow") tweaked presets, plus maybe too much vigneting ;).E3+70-300+Lr3.4+Nik Color EfexThanks for looking... -- BjornBudd was my computer games alter ego... Carizi, I've seen this one before and if I be honest the high contrasty B&W version has my preference as it's easier to get an overview of all the details but the colour one is nice as well.Cheers Lou-cariziwrote:Color:B&W & cropped:

Great shot and light. but only a minor remark... some jagged lines from oversharpning on the leaves but it's very minor. Very nice capture.Cheers Lou-Waynecamwrote:E-30 with 12-60.

Just the right exposure for this scene. However, it seems a bit clumped up around the windmill. I would like it better if you had moved to the left, so that the tree was to the right of the frame and the sunset more to the left, with the windmill dominating the center area. --Some people operate cameras. Each of these seems to be to be saying something slightly different. The color version does a better job showing the context the robber fly is captured in, but I find the hair on the right side to be distracting. The black and white feels more intimate. They both have their merits, I don't think I can decide which one I like more. -- http://www.photoklarno.com
