$820 for E-1 combo?

BubbaE1

Do you think $820 is a fair price for an E-1 + 14-54 Mk I + 9-18, everything in good/great condition? Thanks! -- Justin E-1 + 14-54 + 9-18 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinger

trying selling it piece by piece the lens's are worth more than the camera . Not to many people will pony up with that kind of money for an E1. They probably have later issued cameras and want the lens's for their newer cameras. Sell the camera body buy it self. Don't sell it in just one lump. You have nice glass don't give it away. Just my opinion Marvin

and perhaps more. I say this because I've been quite successful at selling a variety of camera gear (gosh, I've sold over 80 cameras and combo's over the past 10 years). Here are the keys to your success:1. The biggest and main factor here is for you to take superb images of the gear - one image showcasing the group (everything together), with the others showcasing each item. DoNOTuse direct flash - meaning, if you do, then you will wind up with harsh flash hitting the items . The end result will wind up having your gear looking very dirty and dusty (each speck of dust - often not seen normally - will be reinforced and highlighted by the direct). I always effectively use bounce flash techniques for a very natural look. Keep the gear away from items that may wind up becoming a distraction to your gear (put up a sheet or something behind the gear.2. Be precise in your wording - talking about the "mint" or "like-new" condition of the gear and how you "baby" your gear.3. Be precise as to all that is included with the gear (i.e. box, all cables, software, caps, etc.). And be sure to highlight the fact that the lenses are in stellar condition with no smudges or scratches on the glass at all. Also talk about any additional "optional" items that you may throw in free of charge (i.e. - compact flash cards, filters, etc.).4. Then list a reason for selling as that is a question that almost everyone asks - whether overtly or privately. I.E: "REASON FOR SELLING:Have just accumulated too much gear over the years, I'm forced to now "thin" out my collection (which is often the case for most of us). I'm very hesitant about parting with this E-1 system because of the stellar images that this system can achieve. But since I'm just not using it much anymore, my loss is your gain."5. Then list a method of contact: I.E. I can be reached via my email at.......or you can also reach me on my mobile phone, which is..... anytime between 9 AM and 9 PM EST for questions, etc.6. Then list method of Payment. I.E. Method of payment preferred is PayPal.....or whatever method you'd like.7. Finally, if you want (I do this all the time and it works) is to list a few "sample" photos taken by the E-1 (list some of your best "knock out" shots - below your equipment shots, indicating same).I know it sounds like I'm preaching here, but believe you me when I say that I've successfully sold every item I've ever put up for sale - often in record time. But the big key here are the images you display. The viewer must be able to see your gear and come to conclusion that the condition is well worth the asking price.I find this works for various buy/sell websites - to include Craigs List (where I have tons of success).Good luck! --

May I ask why you have decided to sell? I went over your threads and I notice you agonized in the past over a previous decision to sell an E1 you then owned.Quote"So I sold my E-1 last summer to fund the purchase of a Pentax and then eventually my current camera, the E-520. Shortly after I sold the E-1 I was lamenting my decision and e-mailed the guy who bought it. I never heard back and I thought I never would. Well, just today I got a response from the guy saying he finally read my e-mail I sent him back in June and he's trying to sell the E-1 (mine that I sold him!) and he was wondering if I wanted it back! Oh, the nostalgia I am feeling."UnquoteLooking at the photo's taken with the E1 that you have posted over the past few years and your enthusiasm for the E1 I wonder if perhaps you are not repeating a past mistake. Regards FredPs. I guess your price might be in the right ballpark if everything is in immaculate condition. To give you an idea look at what I purchased about 6 months ago."I got my second E1 body which I now use as a back up and is mostly safely stored in it's original box in my cupboard. About 6 months ago now I met this old pensioned guy at a mutual friends house and talk got round to photography. He mentioned that with the farewell bonus money he received from the company where he worked when he went on pension he had purchased a brand new E1 kit (with 14-54mm MK1 ) That was in 2005. He was always an analog photography guy and this was his first digital camera. After using it for about 2 months he decided digital wasnt for him and put the camera in his cupboard and just about forgot about it until our conversation. It wasn't difficult to convince him to sell it to me. So for Euro400 I became the proud owner of a immaculate, like absolutely brand new E1 camera with 527 shutter activations and a 14-54mm lens. Firmware update was still at 1.1 The lens was still attached to the body and has never even been taken off at all. Rubbers still attached as like new with no sign of letting loose. Really, this E1 is just like the day it left the factory. Have the original sales receipt too. Everything is in the box and totally complete."BubbaE1wrote:Do you think $820 is a fair price for an E-1 + 14-54 Mk I + 9-18, everything in good/great condition? Well, it looks like I won't be selling the combo. I have a taker for the 14-54, so I'll sell what's left in pieces. Thanks for your input, guys. I appreciate it. -- Justin E-1 + 14-54 + 9-18 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinger

You had to dig up that old post, didn't you!I absolutely LOVE the E-1 and swore I would never get rid of it. The reality is that I need the money, yet again, to fund another camera purchase. If I kept the E-1, I wouldn't use it, and I figure why not sell it to someone who will. Who knows, maybe nobody will buy it and I'll get to keep it. -- Justin E-1 + 14-54 + 9-18 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinger
