A couple neighborhood Hawks

These guys stalk my sister-in-law's mini dobermans..Me and my son walked a couple blocks down to get some pics and these guys followed us back home yelling at us the whole time.

Very nice photos. Where abouts do you live? What camera/lens setup did you use? Any idea what type of hawks they are? I ask because I saw something similar standing across from my house with feathers all over the ground in front of him so some poor little bird was no more. -- MRD

Tampa Florida area. I used the E-30 and the 70-300 These are Red shouldered Hawks. I have a few more in this gallery on my site:http://www.richardsphoto.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=236:red-shouldered-hawk&catid=66:birds&Itemid=283

Nice shots Richard,Here's one of the Red Tailed Hawks from about 200 miles north of you at Lake Talquin near Tallahassee. They are absolutely the noisiest of the hawks in our area. When they are training their young seems to be the noisiest time. We are enjoying a break from them at present, but the Barred Owls are keeping us entertained.I believe the miniature dobermans are just large enough to be safe from this predator

I lived in Tampa for 15 years. Used to work at the Busch Brewery until it was closed in 1995. I never saw any hawks but there were a lot of green parrots. -- MRD

Marvin, I too live there in the early '60s while working at USF. You're right, green parrots and free beer. Those days are gone -- DeWitt http://www.rdewitt.net

You can get free beer at Busch Gardens. The Parrots are still hanging around the area although not as much as they were even 10 years ago. I believe the brewery you worked at is now the Yuengling brewery.

some great shots! Thanks for sharing the last one is my fave.

Those are nice photos. The first and last pictures are my favorites because of the pretty backgrounds...although if the hawk was closer to the center (just slightly more), that would have been better for my tastes.
