Eye-Fi Pro X2 Card - does not work with CFII adapter

Mike Mu

I've got the latest Eye-Fi Pro X2 8GB card and have been using it in a variety of cameras for a good week or more.I wanted to be able to use it with my Olympus DSLRs so I ordered an "Extreme CF Adapter" that also supports SDXC cards. I just received a SD to CFII adapter today. To my dismay, the cameras (E-30 and E-1) give a card error when trying to save a picture. Playing back pictures works fine. Any time some writing is involved (ie formatting) I get an error. The adapter works fine with other cards, Eye-fi explorer, Eye-fi share, SD, SDHC cards, microSDHC class 10 cards in SD adapter, etc.Does anybody have the newest Eye-Fi Pro X2 card and have it working with their Olympus DSLR? If so, can you share which CFII adapter you have?

I've been doing some research, and it appears that almost all the SD to CFII adapters do not work with X2 cards. If anybody has one that does work, please let me know!

I had a Delkin adaptor that worked with my X2Pro in my E3. I got it from the auction site. The range isn't great because of the bulk of the body but it does work a room away from the router.I've now moved to an E5 so problem solved.

You've got to be careful about which adapter you use. Some work and some do, and again, some better than others. Follow this thread and you will see.It works well in my E3. On my home network I get about 30 feet from my front door then I start to see transmission issues. On Ad-Hoc mode, I get about 50 feet range to my notebook.http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1022&message=36762538Just make sure there is no metal on the adapter (or remove the metal bands yourself, these will cause issues.Beers,Carl

It works well with an X2Pro card in my E-3. Currently I'm using this card in Eye-Fi's new Direct Mode (sent to Shuttersnitch).I'm not aure what Carl is referring to as "metal bands", but I did remove one of the metal faces of the adapter, and that improved performance somewhat. Never any writing issues.Phil -- http://pirose.zenfolio.com

Got my adapter from Fry's. It works fine most of the time on my E30. I use it with the x2 pro card. Only times I have problems is when I remove and reinsert card. Sometimes it doesn't detect. Once it does it's fine. Usually removing the xd card and inserting the Adapter x2/pro card first, to detect it then reinserting xd card fixes this for me. Again I only experience this problem when I remove the x2 pro card from the adapter and camera.

I'd suggest keeping the xd out of the camera when intending to use your Eye-Fi card--it's just more "stuff" to get in the way of wi-fi signals.Phil -- http://pirose.zenfolio.com

Has anyone tried the EyeFi Mobile card with an adapter?
