Problems with battery AA lithium 1.5V Locked

NoordHolland

Hallo users of Pentax SLR with AA batteries.I have an ask for You.I buy here in Holland batteries AA 1.5V Lithium NUON. I wanted to use them in my Pentax K100d. When I put them in the camera (correctly). He gives at my monitor an empty battery. When I put them in my battery tester it tells me 1.5V (full)While I put other batteries p.e. powerex rechargeable in my camera no problems. Did you hear more that Pentax is not good working with this AA 1,5V Lithium batteries? Or is it the camera, that is very critical??With regards WW

That is the whole idea of the AA battery option in some of the Pentax camera's so you can just go out and buy plain batteries when your rechargeables run out in the middle of nowhere. With regards WW

Fresh primary (non-rechargeable) Lithium AA batteries should read about 1.7 volts, not 1.5, on a voltmeter when not under load.I and many others have used lithium AAs in many different cameras over the years with no problems. I have used them exclusively in my DS for four years with great success - about 1600 shots per set.Try a different brand if you can.Rick

I use Energizer Lithiums in my DS with no problems.I read (I think on this forum) a long time ago about a similar problem. The guy solved it by putting the new batteries into his flash, doing one discharge and then putting them in his camera. His camera would then read the batteries as full. His theory was that the voltage was too high in the new batteries, so the camera didn't register it properly. Please don't take me on about this, but it wouldn't hurt to try!

I use the Eveready AA Lithium and get about 1100 shots with my K200D Rick -- Some of my stuff: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v450/bejersey/ http://photosbyricksmith.carbonmade.com/

I have try the last suggestion. I put the batteries into my flash. They working there very good. But when I put them back in the camera. The monitor say batteries empty.I shall buy and try the Energizer Lithiums AA. Perhaps they are better than the NUON. The NUON are very cheap. You hear from me.WW Holland Whe

Normally I use Eneloops in my K100D Super, but recently I tried a pair of Energizer CR-V3s with terrific results. They seem to last forever. -- JJ

I have the same problem with 'Conrad 1.5v Lithium AA'...After the NiMH disaster, i had a set of Energizer's Lithium AA's and got 1100 shots. Then i wanted to save some money and bought the Conrad version, at half the price of the Energizers. They don't work...Now using Eneloop's: that's the best till now!

I saw also an ask what for batteries for use in a K200D.I had an K100D and buy the energizer lithium AA and they working without problems. I have now (since a week) an K200D and I try the unknow mark lithium and...... LCD says "battery empty" I put in the the energizer LCD "battery full" .So I would say look out for what mark. I can use the unknow mark now for my flash, without problems.Use ENERGIZER LITHIUM AA in your pentax K100D and K200D and you can make photos a long time.Good photohunting. WW

Hi, I have a Pentax istDL and aa 1.5v lithiums don't seem to work with it. It just comes up with battery is depleted although the batteries work fine on other electronics. I have updated the firmware from 1.0 to the latest 1.3, but still no luck. I would really like to use lithium AAs with it, I can get them quite cheaply, but they just don't seem to work. I'm stuck with the rechargeable lithiums, it's great but when they run out, I'm left with no camera. Would be great if it just worked! Any suggestions - there doesn't seem to be any newer firmware than 1.3. I heard some cameras have a AA Lithium setting so it registers as a good battery (probably since the initial voltage is 1.7 - 1.8V) on these batteries. Any suggestions?

Search over there and you can learn about causes and fixes. No easy fix though. Easier to just use Eneloops. -- I'm thankful to still be able to...

Sometimes it doesn't matter what the indicator reads, the cam works all the same. Does yours, OP?

The Eneloops that have been mentioned are rechargeable batteries, aren't they? At least all the Eneloops I've bought have been. They're Sanyo's brand of rechargeable battery and come pre-charged, with the claim that they can hold their charge for a year or more! So far, I've had a great experience with them, although since I'm primarily using the K-5 as a camera these days I use them only with my flash and other accessories.I can tell you that IF the K-30 was a bit more high-end I'd seriously consider getting one PRIMARILY because it will take AA batteries. I HATE having to depend on proprietary LIon batteries that are different for every camera. Luckily, after I bought my K-5 I found a second battery at Amazon for like $8. The ad there made it look like it was a two-pack of batteries, but some of the reviews complained that they got only one battery, which was still fine by me at that price... Well, when my order came it WAS two batteries. I haven't actually tested to see if they last as long as the $42 Pentax battery that came with the camera, but at that price I could buy quite a few for the price of ONE Pentax-brand battery.I also got a secondary charger with a plug for home use and an adapter to use in the car (for about the same price), but it doesn't seem to be working any more. It appears to be missing one of the charging contacts. I could swear it worked to start with, so maybe that contact broke off. Guess I'll have to take a close look, since at the price I paid, it might be worth it to get another one just so I can have a charger to keep on the console in the car (this one's been in there for more than a year, so maybe it just got beat up?).
