Pentax FA100mm f2.8 macro
Harold Olivier
The FA100/2.8 macro is available athttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160879195911&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:enI have this lens and the D-FA version. This one is better as a regular 100mm lens, and at least as good at macro distances (I think it is actually a bit sharper, with better bokeh, but this is an impression based on examining the many frames I've shot with both - I haven't rigorously tested it). The seller is unimpeachable - I am among the 100% of their buyers who think so - and I've never seen a price as low as the current offering.Disclaimer - I have no connection to the seller, other than as a (several times) satisfied buyer.

That's cheap for that glass... I have one, and it is easily the sharpest lens I own. It is built like a tank and handles really well with the exception of the focus ring, which is a little skinny and underdamped.Mine has also been quite wet before and doesn't seem at all affected. Dunno if it is officially WR but I don't hesitate to take it outdoors any time.W

That certainly looks like an OLDER version of the current one, and I'm pretty sure it's NOT WR (or I think it would say so in the description). But considering that the current version is selling for more than TWICE that price new, if the one on eBay has equal IQ and AF, I think I'd JUMP on that if I needed a Macro lens, WR or not!I have the current WR version, and I agree it's a SUPERIOR lens.As for the current version, shoppers beware, as with a couple other lenses in Pentax's lineup, it's available in both WR AND non-WR "flavors," and BOTH have the SAME MSRP (or at least they did last time I checked with ALL their WR and non-WR versions of lenses). It's very easy when you're some place like Amazon, which may have a dozen different sellers with different prices, and you're shopping around looking for the BEST price, to find what looks like the BEST price and MISS the fact that you're getting a non-WR version. It hasn't happened to me, but then I'm practically OCD about stuff like that BEFORE I hit the "add to cart" button, and THEN before I hit the BUY button I check again. I have a copy of it.It's very heavy, strong and sharp. It has a built-in hood.Somehow I feel the FA and DA lenses have slightly different color and XXXX. I can not use words to describe it. DA more crispy and FA more gradual and "conservative"?I also feel K20 and K5 have slightly different color and XXXX. Can not describe it either. K20 seemed more saturated? K5 more in line with other brands?
