menu buttons on K5 sticking

ipsman

hii have owned my K5 from new (15months+) but i now notice that the shoot mode & flash mode buttons on the 4 way controller are starting to become stiffer when pressed. they actualy are starting to make a louder click noise everytime they are used. they still function properly but are nowhere as smooth as the other buttons on the 4 way controller. is there any way to fix, clean, lubricate? these buttons to restore that smooth action? any suggestions would be much appreciated. apart from this its still an awsome camera!!! many thanks.

I also have problem - the ISO button on my K-5 requires heavy pressure to operate. I suspect my issue is to do with the contacts whereas yours sounds mechanical. With previous non-WR bodies I found that a squirt of contact cleaner would often fix these issues, but (not surprisingly) this doesn't work with my K-5, in fact I guess it could damage the seals depending on the material used. -- Mike http://flickr.com/rc-soar

I have the mechanical (?) problem every year after carnaval when beer, mayonaise, "zoervleis (sort off stew eaten with chips) makes my camera and all button very sticky and hard to operate, especially the on/off switch and the dials but also just about every button on the camera. A veeery gentle rinse with water (more advanced dripdrip instead of a steady stream of water) solved it n my case. --The difference between genius and LBA is that genius has its limits.Janneman ( adaptation of the Kings quote from Albert Einstein)

my K5's left button of the 4 way buttons has the same problem. I don't think one can lubricate these buttons from outside. -- -------------------------------- It's the singer not the song.
