Sony 35 f2.8 vs Sony 28 f.2

Aside from the obvious difference, focal length, how would you compare these two lenses, particularly in terms of overall performance?I've got the Sony 28 and am happy with it paired with my A7RII, however I'm wondering if I should also look at the Sony 35 which is also small/light and is perhaps a better length for street work.

Hello,The FE 35mm f2.8 is smaller, has better micro contrast, less distortion and vignetting, and the edges/corners are sharper wide open. The FE 28mm f2 is obviously wider, and just as sharp in the center. To my eyes, it provides a nicer buttery smooth bokeh at f2 vs the FE 35mm at f2.8, so subject isolation is better on the FE 28mm (subjective opinion).I purchased the FE 28mm because it complements my FE 55mm perfectly. IMO, the FE 35mm focal length is too close to the 28mm focal length, so I wouldn't bother. Get the awesome FE 55mm instead.J

Do not forget flexibility. With the adapters you can modify the 28 to also cover 21 an 16 for a relatively low cost. While the quality may not be TOP NOTCH (as per dedicated lenses in this area) this is still a valuable approach for those who either want to try out very wide angles and / or use that only occasionally. On top, obviously, there is a lack of a dedicated fisheye for e-mount.I am just getting this combo for exactly this reason. I Want to have a fisheye, but I would not never pay the "full price" for a dedicated lens in this area, at least not at the moment.

I might get the 'E' mount 8mm fisheye instead.

Get the awesome FE 55mm instead. That's my thinking also.I think it is sufficient to have primes that are about 2x the focal length of each other in range. I have the Samyang 14mm (in Canon EF mount with FotodioX adapter), Sony FE 28mm, Zony FE 55mm, and Canon EF 100mm.JLim22 wrote: A lot of people love the 35mm. But for me, I don't understand why it costs $800. It should be same price as the 28 or less. So the 28 doesn't have the Zeiss label on it, but it goes really well with the 55mm.Also agree. The 35mm is too close to my 55mm in focal length, and too expensive for the slow f2.8 aperture. YMMV.
