No I don't think you can have focus point metering with A7 series, however with face detection it will meter for the person's face when detected.

This way you expose differently for a caucasian or black person for example. If I missed something please let me know, still learning photography

One may engage Auto Exposure Lock. The camera will meter from the user positioned AEL box.

A very useful tool indeed! I have programmed C1 button (right next to the shutter release) to exposure lock. So when ever I want to hold a certain exposure and free myself from thinking about it, just concentrating on composition - voilá.I also separated autofocus from the shutter release button and use one of the buttons at the back. Greatest thing since the invention of sliced bread! I am not kidding!

Greatest thing since the invention of sliced bread! I am not kidding! Thanks,BBF is a good tool in some cases. Already watched a video on how to set that up. For concert photography I am very likely to use that a lot.Going through some customization videos and the A7 seems to be a great camera. For metering I want it to meter and not lock it since during indoor concerts (my main aim) light is changing all the time.Just want it to meter in a certain area. Underexposing a stop and overexposing two stops in general you get away with.
