A7R II: autofocus depending on aperture

nightliner

I realized that my A7RII doesn´t AF really good when I switch to an aperture > 8. It starts pumping as soon as I half press the shutter. The reason for this seems to be, that it really stops down as soon as I half press the shutter (this can be seen on the display). What I read it should be the other way round: Preview the DOF in live view and opening the iris for AF when half pressing the shutter.I really would like to have the best AF performance possible and therefore wouldn´t mind loosing DOF preview.Do I have any misconfiguration? Thanks a lotMarkus

It is the same with the A7. Disabling the effect preview help with af-s.With af-c the focus is fast at 1.8 but slow or not working at lower aperture. The initial focus is done wide open but the lens close for the tracking. Disabling effect preview change nothing (tested on the A7, I don't know for the A7rii)With A mount lenses and the laea4 adapter, with Af-c the lens stay wide open during the tracking and close only when you shoot. I don't know why sony don't do the same with e mount lenses.

had the same issue shooting some landscapes at f/11, even in bright daylight the focus was painfully slow at anything shot beyond f/8

If this is true for the A7RII, I see this as a bigger issue than the much talked about lossy compressed RAW.Isn't this behavior contrary to what DSLR do?But it seems, that this could be solved by firmware update, if needed.

Below f9 the camera will switch to contrast detect AF modehttp://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1520/v1/en/contents/TP0000823554.html
