We may be getting A7000 soon, but what's the point if we can no longer discuss this on DPReview?

I am referring to both the news that dpreview are shutting down and also the rumors that Sony E-mount flagship aps-c coming later this year.Rumors about A7000 has dated back since at least 7-8 years ago, and some users on dpreview are among the most enthuasistics about the "real nex-7 and legendary a6000 successor".Years passed including two years of global pandemic, and Sony hasn't yet released any information about flagship aps-c.And this year 2023, rumor about "A7000" resurfaces again and we may actually getting this unicorn camera but dpreview communities will no longer be there to witness this camera. No more casual chatting and trolling. The end. Will never buy anything from amazon again at least in the next few years.

I know in my case being on dpreview has an influence on my purchases i.e. the product reviews per se, the experiences from other forum members and etc. Now I am going to rely on other sources like Fred Miranda, the numerous groups on Facebook, the YouTube influencers that I follow and a few camera review websites.I'll definitely miss dpreview my ultimate source of digital photography for more than 20 years.

DPReview was my one-stop-shop for both official reviews and first-hand user reviews (on forums). While I have too much photography gear, I really try and complete an incredible amount of research before buying anything. Without DPReview, I may slow down purchases as I consult 15 other disparate sources. The loss of the forums and a sense of community is also a body blow. It was great to hop around from forum to forum and learn from other people. Reading what other camera brands were introducing was also interesting.Cheers to everyone and happy shooting!

I will miss the lively debate. And stumbling across discussions about gear I had never heard of.So yes, there are other places to search out reviews. But the community here has been a precious source of information and (here's the key)context ... provided by users.A free-standing review is good. A vigorous back and forth about the attributes of various alternatives ... by people who have held those lenses in their hands ... that's illuminating. The discussions have been often kind, frequently entertaining and occasionally snarky. But I learned from the debates ... even when they went too long or drifted into nonsense. What will I do now when the light is bad and the weather worse?

If you're referring tothis Sony teaserthen I doubt it'll be a high-end APS-C body, more likely another vlogging camera. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Agree, and who would even know about it. Amazon should think about the loss of photo equipment sales they will make simply because the public isn't finding out about all the new equipment.
