The other way I spend money is with firearms, and while I dont hesitate to trust a Gunbroker posting with my money, I dont have an eBay track record to fall back on for assurance.

They sell used gear, and I would not hesitate to buy from them.Got it,, thx!

I like the Tamron, especially at its price (I could not afford the Sony 70-350).THAT is impressive! How is the build quality on the Tamron? Here is my decision tree: the used Sony is close to a new Tamron. Now, if I were dealing with Nikon, my decision is made, I have used Nikon glass for decades. But I am dealing with, for me, two unknowns -Sony and Tamron. Sony likes to price their optics. Whether those prices are justified, I dont know. Again, with Nikon, I paid and never looked back. But Im not shooting for my living now, its a hobby, so my price justification has changed.

Good point, thanks.  I admit, I wasn't really paying attention to that and normally would shoot at f8.

Thanks all who were guiding my thinking with their experiences.I bit the eBay bullet and found a $620 Sony 70-350 that with tax and shipping kicks the entry fee to $700 and change, coming from Japan.Never having dealt with eBay before at this level, or with a shipment from Japan, this is going to be an interesting experience that I will either be quite satisfied with, or not….I DID get a Zorki from an eastern Europe seller years ago, but this was a whimsical purchase and the shipping cost more than the camera.Lens should be meeting my A6000 by end of month… in how many pieces-yet to be determined….

It is a A mount lens and I originally got it for my A700 and was very pleased with it. I do use on my A68, which is normally dedicated to my old Minolta 100-400 APO, as a backup on occasion--like when my memory card filled up on my A7ii on a trip through north Idaho, and I discovered I didn't have a spare. I was very pleased with it on that camera but haven't used it on an adapted APS-C E mount.
