A6000+ prime lens
kimg1961
Good morning.I have an a6000 and used it for some years, essentially with the kit lens. I also own 2 bridge cameras (p1000 & RX10iv) which deals with zoom issues. Im planning a holiday, and looking for a prime lens for point and shoot & street photography but find the bridge camera too cumbersome to wander round with. I am also looking for a lens to deal with poor light. Maybe a 1.4 30mm. Any pointers much appreciated.

You literally just said it.... The Sigma 30 f1.4Happy shooting!

The Sigma 30mm 1.4 is very sharp. There is a firmware update to improve AF so make sure to update if you go for this lens. For street photography, you could also consider the Samyang 24mm 1.8 or the old Sony/Zeiss 24mm 1.8 (used for around 300€).

(secondhand) Touit 32/1.8? Love mine and I just carry a backpack with A6000+ 32 and 12 (and when in parks I add my HX400v bridge).

I loved the Sigma 30mm f1.4 for street, but I also love the Sony 20mm f2.8 because it is so slim and light. Those would be the two contenders for me. The Sony might focus a bit better and you may not need f1.4 if shooting exclusively in daylight.

I had the Sony 20mm 2.8 in the past. It is tiny and sharp. In most cases, F 2.8 is sufficient.

Maybe I'm wrong but check it out.The Sigma doesn't have an aperture ring so not sure how much it matters. The Sigma works well however, just as the Viltrox, so it's really about chosing the angle you find more versatile. There's also the Samyang 24 f1.8 that would be for FF, but it's very sharp on APS-C aswell and very small.

I concur with the Zony 24/1.8 suggestion. Love this lens - here's a recent sunset in the French Alps where I used it on my a6600.ISO 320, 1/60th, F4 (Sony Sunset mode)CheersMike M

Sigma 30 F1.4 or Viltrox 23 F1.4, depending on which field of view you prefer. To my eye, 23mm feels more natural than than the 30-35mm range that is often called "normal" on APS-C.

Two suggestions for you:As mentioned, the Sigma 30mm 1.4. You can't go wrong with this lens. Razor sharp. It's pretty much glued to my a6000.Next, the old Sigma 19mm 2.8. I picked one up dirt cheap $90 from a computer store that for some reason had some camera lenses they were blowing out. I'm very happy with the lens. It's compact, very sharp and has very nice colour rendition.Third, the Sigma 60mm 2.8 if you are looking for something a bit longer. This one is also very sharp with nice colour. Great for portraits and so is the 30mm.This kit fits into a small camera bag. I tend to have the 30mm as my everyday lens and swap as required. The 30 can do most of what I need. All of these lenses were affordable and have great performance.

If its IQ is in the same ballpark as the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and Sigma 56mm f/1.4, that will probably be the perfect low-light lens. Not sure when it will actually hit the stores, though.

I also read the announcement of the Sigma lens and would recommend waiting for this one. Sigma primes are just fantastic and if the 23mm 1.4 is not totally overpriced, I will buy it instantly.
