You will not be able to unlock English by yourself. Your camera model does not have the ability to install the third-party applicationOpenMemories: Tweak.List of devices compatible with the applicationApproximately the same question was with changing the menu from Chinese to English on the ILCE-6400 camera. This procedure is possible even remotely via the Internet and connection to a computer. Or directly at the place of purchase of the camera. How this happens I don't know. The service is paid and the one who knows how to do it does not disclose what software he does it with.

It should now be possible via the tweak method (another the play memories app). - this link takes you to main page on GitHub.https://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-REBelow is a comment from “ma1co” who is responsible for making this possible.ma1cocommented8 days ago’‘In the latestdevelopment build, tweaks should now be supported for these cameras, too. You can use pmca-console serviceshell or the "Start tweaking (service mode)" button in the Tweaks tab of pmca-gui. This will require the installation of custom USBdrivers.”The above quote was taken from this url:https://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-RE/issues/292#issuecomment-1113972760where he replies to a guy selling his services to unlock / change language options for cameras not supported by Playmemories or PCCA method.I recommend giving it a try yourself. Hardest part is understanding it and how it works, then the next hardest part is getting the USB drivers to work.I did it for my Sony Nex-5 (but no tweaks were available) so I ended up paying the guy to change the language from Japanese to English.

I just unlocked the language options.https://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-REI tried using mac and linux but was not successful. Then installed windows in mac via bootcamp and followed the instructions. Initially had some hiccups, then finally was able to unlock it.I used the gui version to run serviceshell. And the option to unlock languages was present there.

Thank you so much!I succeed to unlock all languages on my Sony HX60v with this program: pmca-gui v.17 Originally was only in Japan, now I get english, french, etc...Run pmca as Admin, then connect your camera to the computer, then install Playmemory Tweak, disconnect and close the camera and reopen it, then go to Play Memory Tweak, make sur to select: Unprotect, then select: Unlock all languages. Close and reopen the camera. You're done

Hi! Can you help me do it for my sony a7iii?

kesariraju

I cannot provide more information than what is available in here -https://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-RE I just followed the instructions, used windows and that's it. There is a very high chance that this may not work for you, and this might cause some other problems. I was willing to take that risk, so please proceed with caution.

So I have a similar issue with my Sony Handycam HDR-CX670. I follow the steps exactly but nothing will download onto camera. It will just say error with either the mass storage mode and if it's in MTP. I've attached some screenshots.

What machine / operating system are you on? have you tried a different USB cable? (I assume the camera is in Mass Storage Mode?) - you can use the google translate app in live view on your mobile to help navigate the language on the phone if it is not in your native language.I found using windows 10 a lot more stable (another running in a vm) to be the most stable / trouble free way of doing this. M1 Mac was a pain and mostly didn’t work.Edit: looks like you are using windows from the screen shots and an older version of the app. Think it is up to version 18 now. Also I had two cameras, one worked better than the other (theoretically the should have both behaved the same but didn’t - one would work and the other gave errors).

Try this linkhttps://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-RE/files/9822713/pmca-console.and.gui-v0.18-14-gd7267ea-win.zipOpen the pmca gui and the difference I found is that there is start tweaking SERVICE and updater mode. When I downloaded from the website, I only had access to the updater mode in which u cannot disable protection and unlock languages.Hope it helps

Sony A7RV here.Installed libusb drivers successfully to the camera using Zadig.Got the camera into service mode. When I try and use pmca-gui on WIndows 10 to start tweaking (service mode), I get this:-Using drivers Windows-MSC, Windows-MTP, Windows-vendor-specific, libusb-MSC, libusb-MTP, libusb-vendor-specific Looking for Sony devicesQuerying mass storage device Sony DSC is a camera in mass storage modeSwitching to service modeWaiting for camera to switch... Found a camera in service mode Error: Only libusb drivers are supported for service mode-So, apparently it can't tell that I already have the libusb drivers on the camera and won't let me proceed any further...

Found the solution here:https://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-RE/issues/304In the end, needed to download the latest preview release -- 18.18-18 -- which has been taken down from the preview release website. Luckily, someone in the thread uploaded it.I have successfully changed my A7R V camera from Japanese into English. Hope this helps others!
