Anyone else interested in a 70-200/4 G mark 2 lens?

Man I am...Make the lens sharp enough to use the teleconvertors and add the aperture ring that's on the 2070/4 and you have a perfect lens pairing for the hobbyist.I didn't think this would be possible, but with Sony creating all these replacement lenses, it is VERY possible.  I would also like to see mark two versions of the 24-240 and the 70-300 lenses with added aperture rings.

You lost me on aperture rings. Two controls on a zoom is plenty.

I wonder if it would provide enough weight and size saving to be a successful 70-200 f/4 design? I think the front element and other close to the front of the lens will experience the greatest reduction, while those close to the mount will stay practically the same.

And with Sony's excellent focusing I almost never use the focus ring, but find I use the aperture ring quite a bit with the A7C, and its missed when it isn't there. (no front camera dial)...

They have only replaced a few lenses that really needed replacement.I don't think Sony are planning to replace the lenses you want them to. To be honest, I'm hoping they are working on new lenses. Ideally the new ones that I want them to(yeah, selfish motivations!)The aperture rings are one of the features that Sony includes on their GM lenses, not G or lesser lenses. I don't imagine they'd be making a GM version of a 24-240mm super-zoom. They might consider doing the 70-200/4 as a GM (they made the 50/1.4 as a GM, after all).

There are new versions of the 1635/4 and 24-105/4 (now the 2070/4).  I get these can be considered new, but they are really tweaking the line up in unexpected ways.I don't think Sony are planning to replace the lenses you want them to. They have added two new lenses (I think calling the 20-70 a "replacement" of the 24-105 is a big stretch!), and there are rumours they might be replacing a third. That's not a lot. And the rumoured 85/1.2 can be argued as a replacement or a new lens.I don't think Sony are planning to replace the lenses you want them to. To be honest, I'm hoping they are working on new lenses. Ideally the new ones that I want them to(yeah, selfish motivations!)Which ones do you want? Hobbies are all about being selfish, lenses I want do you no good if they don't fit into your processess. They've announced one: the 300 f/2.8 GM, and I am keen for a 200 f/2 GM. I'd be interested to see them release an 800 GM (although I doubt I'd ever be able to buy one, but I could rent it).I would also like to see a longer macro lens (more working distance) - a 180 or 200, for preference. The aperture rings are one of the features that Sony includes on their GM lenses, not G or lesser lenses.
