Colorful European Starling

I am loving my FE 200-600mm. I was on a trip in Texas yesterday and grabbed this shot while at a gas station. The European Starling is not native to Texas, and is considered an invasive species, but MAN that is one pretty bird!

Well, as the saying goes "if you got it, flaunt it!"  - nice colours!  Actually more gaudy than the starlings I have seen in Europe.   But by the time I see them still they are usually ex-starlings, they have chirped their last, lying on their back with their legs in the air ...CheersMike M

Yeah, I watch a lot of air rifle videos from the EU with people shooting starlings.  I guess they are a real problem over there. They are kind of rare here. I see the on occasions but not often.

Starling, the bane of my grandmothers garden, devourer of fruit that would otherwise end up as spirit,Just wait for them to gang up on your cherries and plums

And where I live, a threat to the vines, I imagine.CheersMike M

Yep, but they make for great photo opportunity that way, a few weeks into the summer they will be so accustomed to my presence in the garden that minimum focus distance and depth of field will become a major issue. Most welcome problem to have! Can't wait actually, last year I only had 24 megapixels to give them, now it's 61. Common as they are, they will make for a good target for large prints
