HelloI use a lowepro Nova 170 AW bag. Several times it happened to me that the lens got stuck on the inside of my bag and zoomed out on its own. The lens hood is quite wide, so maybe I need a bigger bag or the bag has a bad design. It annoys me to constantly switch the lens from smooth to tight when I put it in my bag. I want to ask if such an extension without using the zoom ring can cause any damage ? I am really paranoid that i already damage something.

I've done this plenty of times with loads of lenses over the years. It won't do any harm. At the moment, it especially happens with my 16-35GM. The big wide reverse-mounted lens hood gets caught in the dividers, and it extends the lens when I pull it out. It usually only happens if I put the lens into my bag font-element down. Try packing it with the rear into the bag if you're concerned about it.
