A few shots from a recent-ish visit to Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire, England.Shot raw, processed - and occasionally fiddled with (sometimes seriously).(S/w: DxO PhotoLab Elite/ ViewPoint, Adobe Lightroom Classic/ Photoshop).Phil and Karen 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿The Norman keep (right) was built in the 1120’s, the tower block (left) was added in 16th century and the grand apartments beyond are 14th century. This spectacular castle was home to many great and powerful men including John of Gaunt and King Henry V.The 16th century Gatehouse was built by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.Layers of history…The castle hosted Queen Elizabeth I during 19 days of lavish festivities in 1575.The white Carrara marble fountain - centrepiece of the Elizabethan garden.Someone always has to get in the shot - photographers eh?You can read more about the history of Kenilworth CastleHere.

I happened to stop to check out the local Bald Eagles' nest this afternoon just as they were changing shifts and had the the Eagle that was leaving the nest fly right at and over me.  Since I was shooting from the car window, I couldn't follow him as he went overhead, but still got about sixty sharp images.  These were my favorites.

I've been to Kenilworth quite a few times and you captured it brilliantly. Its a spawling epic ruin of a castle. Wonderful light and I especially like shot 3 and 4 (shot 4 is a new view that I've not seen before so I'm trying to work out where you were standing to get that view)

Great Gray Owl at Twilight about to take flight - Ottawa, OntarioGreat Gray Owl at Twilight - Ottawa, OntarioIt was a magical, first-time experience for me to be able to observe a Great Gray Owl in its forest-home setting for a few brief moments during twilight. The scene was a light-blue, dream-like landscape of trees and tangled branches with the Owl's silhouette faintly visible.I was actually much farther away than it appears in this image, but my RF100-500 L USM plus an in-post crop on these R5 images makes it seem like I'm much closer. Thanks to RAW files and advanced photo-editing technology I was able to tease out the details and even some colours from an originally very dark image.Rudy

You’re making me homesick Lars.  I grew up in the Roaring/ Fork Valley.  Moved to Ohio in 1979 and have only made it home to Colorado about half a dozen times since then.  Beautiful shot.
