The R6II really has given me gas.

And fiscally responsible. She’s also enjoys photography and really loves her M6II. She would recognize a different camera pretty easily. If not, the first time a 12 fps burst fires off at our sons soccer game, the cat would be outta the bag!

You don't need to switch from people to vehicles to animals, that camera does it for you, quite flawlessly.AI Focus works well with auto subject selection.I’ve read about that Sounds very cool. Also Face Priority, which means it won’t refocus when video shooting if a face leaves the screen temporarily then comes back No unnecessary jumping around.Heard of pre-capture? It's a feature that's been in some mobile phones for quite some time now. The R6Mii has it.First introduced with the EOS M6II. My wife’s camera has it. Frankly I’m surprised all the R cameras after that didn’t have it.Like the R7, it shows the focal length at which you are shooting on your EVF or display at live view, which I find really helpful when using my EF100-400mm Mark II.I like that as wellDon't even want to get you started on videos. As I said up thread. It’s the first one that can truly replace our old camcorder based on how we’ve used that in the past. Cool stuff!Give in to the GAS. It's worthwhile!

PM me if you’re interested. 😁R2Do feel you need an R3 R2....Actually I would own one or two of them right now if it weren’t for that built-in vertical grip. I really do enjoy the weight savings of “everything RF” too much to give up that aspect. A good friend of mine (pro) shoots with an R3, so I get to sample its “goodness” on occasion, but its handling is unfortunately just not to my tastes (personal pref entirely).Instead, I figure I’ll be shooting with a pair of R5 Mark II’s come summer, and am enjoying the R6ii and R5 in the meantime (plus the R7 for my macros, and M6ii for fun!). A wealth of riches here in Canon-land!R2

If not, the first time a 12 fps burst fires off at our sons soccer game, the cat would be outta the bag!Ahhh, but the R6ii’s readout speed is fast enough now to use the eShutter for action shooting! And it’s oh so quiet. Of course she’d probably be asking you why you weren’t taking pictures though, and you’d be busted anyway! Even with that “fake” shutter sound!Well, best of luck to you!R2

I prep my wife about a month ago and it is in the name of doing photos for our daughter's marching band. I ordered mine and it is on backorder. It has been close to two weeks, it is getting irritating not seeing and order status change. Make it worse, my RF 100-500 arrived and has no body to shoot with.................

Good buy nonetheless!

Hmmm…. This R8 might be perfect timing. Will it have what I want? Will it soften the blow at home for $1,000 less? Will it be in users hands by June 1? Inquiring minds want to know! 🤔

Inquiring minds want to know! 🤔During the last week, I have realized that I don’t have GAS. It’s a long story, all the cameras that I looked at. For awhile, three or so years ago, I was thinking about getting a Nikon D780. It seemed to have better DR than my 6D mark 2. Never got one.I also seriously thought about a 5D mark IV. Numerous times, a few weeks here and there. Never got one.For awhile the Sony A7c. A nice little full frame camera. I was seriously thinking about one, but never got one.I am tempted to say that I seriously considered a Fuji X100V, and that’s true, I did. A month or so ago, after two years of thinking about it, I was finally ready to buy one, and then I learned that it was borderline impossible to buy one.But the truth is, even before the X100V, farther back, I spent 2 or so years looking at the X100F.And the original R6 ? Of course, I looked at it for a long time, up until when the R6 mark 2 came out. Finally these things reach a « crescendo » or something… and nothing can really stop you from getting one. Here in Europe the R6 mark 2 cost me 2900 Euros, which, quite frankly, is not an insignificant amount for me. But I tell myself that it really only cost 1400 Euros, because the X100V would have been 1500 Euros, and I never got the X100V. So figure 2900 minus 1500 … that’s only 1400.

So figure 2900 minus 1500 … that’s only 1400.When I wrote that, two days ago, I was partly just joking, but it an extra odd twist, a bit unexpected, last night around 11pm, my iPad beeped and I looked, and I saw some automated computer system had just emailed me to say that the photo store now has the X100V in stock. That was a surprise. I thought that email would be months away, or never.I see the store has increased the price to 1600 Euros, but quite seriously, had I not just bought the R6 mk2, I would be, this morning, mapping out some strategy to be at the photo store 9:30am, Monday morning (they are closed on the weekend), to buy an X100V.But there are no regrets. Maybe I will get an X100V in 2024, or maybe not.

Anything else that might be a factor?R2

Dual cards aren’t that important either. Nice to keep video and photo separated, but $1,000 nice? Maybe not.The weather sealing is probably a bigger factor for the R6II, but I’ve never had a pro level body before. I did have to have my RP repaired due to corrosion inside though.

I really like these from fleaBay…Hotshoe CoverNice form-fitting rubber with an overhang to protect the new electronic accessory interface. (Most you see don’t have that overhang).R2

JustUs7 wrote:But I don’t need to convince you lot. I need to convince my wife. 😁I had a little bit of time before I picked up lunch so I went to the camera store. I specifically asked the camera salesman to show me just two cameras: R6MKII and the Sony A7IV. He laid out to me side-by-side. Just on ergo and pure handling---I'm not getting the Sony. My right hand fits tight on the grip with a 24-105/4 G lens. But the Canon fits perfect. Love it!!The mechanical shutters of both cameras at high speed bursts sound nice but the Canon is more muted.I told the salesman that I have some EF lenses namely the 50L and 85/1.2LII. So he whipped out the EF 50L put the adapter and handed it to me. With the adapter it doesn't look long at all. He grabbed the camera again and set it up to shoot bursts first mechanically and then with the electronic shutter. He then gout out behind the glass counter so I he can pose for me standing and waiving his hand. Wow, I was really impressed. So the eye AF square box is blue huh? I'm kinda used to green :-).I told him to give me a quote of the R6MKII + adapter + vertical grip. I was tempted to hand him my credit card but fortunately had the discipline not to.
