Brand new X-E2s

Zero4497

Hi I came across a brand new Fuji X-E2s in a store for $225. Seriously thinking of getting it. Anyone still use this camera, have love for it.

RUN RUN RUN! Buy buy buy! NOW! 🤠 it's a great deal, I would've bought it without a seconds thought.👍

Anyone still use this camera, have love for it.I bought mine new for $399  last October and am very happy with it. Comparing with current model prices, that’s an amazing deal if you’re willing to work with less resolution, slower AF and more sensor noise than current models. Some here regard its X-Trans ll sensor with particular disdain. I don’t find it problematic. I’m rather very pleased with its images. I much prefer its physical controls to a touchscreen inadvertently changing AF with my nose.

I’m one of the disdainful ones.  I actually owned the XE2 twice, back in the day - I decided to give it a second chance when the last big firmware update came out alongside the XE2s (essentially making the XE2 the same camera) and the price dropped.  But I always found the JPEG’s disappointing and generally disliked the handling and feel of it.Just lately there’s been a YouTube-driven surge of support for it as some kind of lost gem - I just find that hilarious TBH.  Someone even said it had “soul”.  For me it’s one of the most soul-less cameras Fuji ever made, and that wasn’t a particularly unpopular opinion when it was new, either.

Anyone still use this camera, have love for it.I’m one of those who loves the X-Trans II sensor. It has its own colour palette and I really enjoy its “contribution” to my images. However I am more drawn towards the X-T1 which has the same sensor. For the price you’ve seen it, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’ve seen them priced higher than that on the second-hand market in well-used condition.

It's a lovely camera, and that's a great price. I still use mine, despite owning two X-E3s.I tend to carry it with a small manual lens (7artisans 18/6.3 or 35/1.2, usually) wherever I go, if I don't want to bring the newer/more expensive camera & lenses. Throw it in a jacket pocket or a backpack, done. The built in flash is also handy for that "i've got a camera on me always" kind of use. Some controls aside, the main difference is lower resolution (still plenty), fewer film sims (it's fine), and slower AF (fine for most of my shots).

All good. To each person their own. That’s the enjoyment in it.

Now that is a unique opportunity. Do not hesitate. While I am a Pentaxian since the early 1980s   my recently acquired x-e2 (5000 clicks, 170 euro), complements the DSLR system very well, as a walk around camera (with the often maligned  xc15-45). The body just handles perfectly for me, its a photographer's camera that reminds  me of my MX  and MEsuper.  I shoot RAW + jpg with it, mostly process them with Silver Efex. Pure fun.

Can’t go wrong with that price.

It`s my most used Fuji X  camera ( Ialso have X-T1 and X-T2 ) paired with the 15-45.Small, light and easy to use.

Look for Chris Orange on YouTube, especially his last videos.

it's a really terrific camera, especially if you work with your RAW files and don't bother much with JPEGs. if you're a JPEG shooter primarily, I'd give it a miss. I upgraded mine to an X-E3 and was so satisfied with the switch, I eventually bought a second one. the colors on the X-E2s are fine, but I don't really understand the weird new cult following it has. I much prefer the rendition of the x-trans III, and I really disliked the aggressive noise reduction at even the lowest setting when the ISO climbed much over 800 or 1600.

The X-E2s was my first Fujifilm camera. The X-T4 is my workhorse camera now but I still have and use the X-E2s.  There’s just something about it I like.  Can’t say what or why.

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I’ll update with my decision, it uses the same battery as my x100v and I was looking to get another battery anyway. In Australia those batteries cost about $90.

I don't know what the going rate is where you are but I am looking for one for something like $370 used (in Asia). I told one seller I don't care if boxed and what the exterior condition is. I just need a clean sensor. So it might be worth checking the going rate as you might even make a profit if you don't keep it.I am also not a fan of the JPGs but giving them another try at the moment after the recent hype. So far only liking monochrome but it's nothing I can't do to the raws in Lightroom. I usually just use the retro Classic Negative on the raws, which I suspect is ideal for the 16MP sensor i.e. a bit softer than newer ones at 24 and 26MP. And the newer S batteries (like in  your X100V) work fine and last longer than the original batteries.

Is the one where the JPGs are worth the hype, not the X-E2.Too bad it has got slow AF, painful EVF refresh rate, no WiFi, no time-lapse, AE-L/AF-L are combined into a single button, limited EC dial...etc.I don't know where the cult following comes from.  I own an X-E2 and an X-T1 because I like what they offer for the price in terms of features.  From a JPG perspective I imagine anything they can do can be emulated with newer bodies.I'd pay a little more for a used X-T1.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I’m still not 100% on it but,  I ended up buying the        X-E2s. If I keep it, not only do I get the camera, but It provides an extra battery and charger to use with my X100V. So for now it’s sitting unopened in it’s little silver-Fuji-sticker sealed bag, just incase I do decide to sell it.Most likely I will end up keeping, and getter my some manual prime lenses and use it as a take everywhere camera.

I just bought a newer model but there is nothing as comfortable and enjoyable as an XE2 imo, so that will remain my primary camera. Focuses plenty fast enough with modern lenses like the 50mm f2 and zooms. And like you say, ideal for manual lenses with different focus peaking colors and a bigger superior EVF to most other options. If not getting the 50mm f2 I recommend an M42 adapter as there are loads of great value lenses on that mount, starting with the radioactive Super Takumar 55mm f1.8 or 50mm f1.4. Also the smaller L39 mount has some much smaller options.Or the likes of 7Artisans generally make good options. Their new 7.5mm mark II fisheye is an amazing bargain at $139.
