Sad news. The only photography site I like…now is gone.

So sad. With all due respect to l-camera forum, which I been a member for many years, that space totally sucks.

Sad news indeed,I've been on here for 14 years. (crikey!). During that time I've met some very interesting people, learnt many things and laughed.... a lot.The Leica forum has always been a special, convivial place with some extraordinary talented people. In recent years I felt it became less about 'photography' and more about 'gear' and 'shopping'..... but nonetheless I will miss this place.Thank you for the good times DPR.Regards,Paul

Really sad to hear as well. I don't understand why Amazon bought these sites in the first place if it was unsustainable for them. They could have at least tried to find a new owner but whatever I guess I'm just annoyedI'll miss you all as you've been a great bunch to chat with about photography over the last few years. I felt like we treated each other respectfully for the most part and just enjoyed the art of photography with a side of g.a.s 😁Huge shout out to the mods and everyone that helped keep this community together. Thank you again to everyone 🤗Happy Shooting!

Very sorry to learn this news. This Leica forum has been a welcome balance to other sites, earning its place alongside them as a result. There's already some apparent overlap in the forum membership between this and other sites. I hope we can all meet and continue this conversation elsewhere. Thanks to all who've contributed. You've made it worthwhile. In the mean time, best wishes to all! Keep asking questions, keep striving, keep shooting, keep seeing! And most of all, Enjoy!Be well, all, and Thanks.

OTOH, on both sites, a lot of extremely helpful people and valuable information being shared.I actually like that the other site seems to have more Leica photos posted than on DPR. There is some really amazing work being displayed there.

It would be a terrible waste of collective knowledge just to kill it off.

Selling the site or making it subscription based, takes time and resources away from the parcel core business …. So computer says “no”….Yours truly,  jeff’s  accountancy department

Besides not being a core interest of Amazon, DPReview probably does not generate much revenue, if any, in its current business model.I expect Amazon will sell DPReview and the new owners will figure out how to make money, I.e. subscription and advertising.
