Hard to believe it's been that long

Wingsfan

I didn't realize it had been ~6 years. I had been off the forum for about 4 years fron ~'17-21 and only realized recently I hadn't seen a post of his.

And he was pretty good in editing/retouching, at least quite some time before I've learnt the basics of that game. Nice about many of his multiple picture posts: The last one very often showed a good looking girl!Liewenberger

Yes we had some good times back then and do you still have the Nikkor 400 F/3.5?Deep shock horror, I did end up getting an AF lens, the Sony 200-600 and it's excellent.Likewise Rahul, it's a bit of a shock this end with DPR, but life goes on I guess. It's been a real pleasure to know you as well from half a world away. All the best to you and the family and simply just have funDanny.

Aren't you referring to Hen3ry, from Papua New Guinea? He was mention in posts above. Yes, he was truly missed!

Thanks for the tributes to these gentlemen; Jackeroo left us before I joined and CC passed away four days before my father did at age 90. That image captured CC's heart and soul I do believe.  January 2018 was not a good month for me.

Bootstrap is another name I recall from way back, on Olympus Compact Cameras mostly.  IIRC he had mentioned envisioning a project of photographing US Hwy 1 from start to finish.  After his passing I took several of US 1 in Washington DC in tribute.

They were very rich in multiple themes from the natural to the abstract, all kinds of creatures, big, small, pretty, ugly. She was a dedicated host, disciplinated, fair, and she kept running her challenges like a tight ship. Great photographer too, with great dedication, commitement and ethics, a true inspiration. She was from Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

one blind eye wrote:Remembering members who have passed. Who they were, and what you remember about them. Before DPR shuts down for good.Mr. One Blind Eye,I think an in memoriam post in Open Talk would be a great idea to honor the legacy of DPReview and the community that has been built there. It's a chance for members to share their memories and express their appreciation for the platform and the people who have made it what it is. Do you want to start a post there, too, like the one here for M43 community? In particular, I want to acknowledge the contributions of David Thorpe in the M43 forum. David was an incredibly knowledgeable and passionate member of the community, and his reviews and insights were greatly valued by many M43 enthusiasts. His passing was a significant loss for the community, and it's important that we take the time to remember and honor him. I especially enjoyed his no-nonsense, expert and, perhaps abovel all, extremely charming YouTube videos.I think that an in memoriam post in Open Talk would be a meaningful way to recognize and honor the contributions of those who have helped to make DPReview such a valuable resource for photographers around the world. Thanks to all.  - Martin
