I was told if I put down a deposit I would get it sooner. Told me about 2 weeks. Came 2 weeks and one day.Same here, I ordered from a Wa state store in February and got it in 3 weeks. It was a USA model and I put a $500 deposit down to insure my place in line. In fact, I was out of state and had to ask them to delay shipping it for a week!It is worth checking around at smaller stores.Dave

Also B&H and Adorama were about 3 weeks out. So the 2 weeks waiting time you got with a small store is IMO nothing special.Incidentally I did not order from of the major retailers like Best Buy Amazon Adorama or B&H

TOF guy wrote:That answers a previous question: is it only D8x0 upgraders who got the D850. Clearly no from your post.I also changed over from Canon. Sold my 5DMKIV and 5x L lenses.Had a lot of Canon bodies, the D850 is hands down the best camera I've owned.

Not a service the big suppliers give you.

TOF guy wrote:Jenny wrote:Congrats on your order,Thanks! All my Canon L lenses and both my 5DMKII's are goneThat answers a previous question: is itonlyD8x0 upgraders who got the D850. Clearly no from your post.Of course not. But personally I think that most upgraders have used previously a D8x0. Why that? Because they had the money and the need to get a high resolution camera. Also I suppose that even more D800 users got that camera after so much years. If you think also that the previous FF non professional camera (meaning the D5) was about three years before with the D750 then there is a lot of time to even attract some D6x0 and D7x0 users. It has though also to do with how much you want to spend.About "conversions" (photographic gear is not religion :-P) most should be from Canon users, where what was offered was not in match with the D850. Not meaning though that everybody is willing to ditch of the Canon glass that he has.If you are so interested why not begin a poll in this forum? Being a moderator you could possibly pin it on top for some time.

Someone had already put deposit on it, but the UPS guy came in with another while I was there. It turned out to be an unordered impulse buy with no wait on my part. I took the 20mm as well.DHoly Monster Unordered Impulse Buy, Batman! Guy to wife upon return: look what I just bought.

Not any probs getting one in Australia. Feel sorry for you guys still waiting in the US.

I have very little interest in the subject of Canon to Nikon switchers - just pointing out evidence that there are some and that says volumes about the D850I know that there is nothing in the Canon camera line-up that would make me switch - quite like contrary - although Canon has some lens I’d love to have. All in all Nikon works best for me which is what I really care about. Not sure where you saw the word “conversion”

Maybe not anything special except my store called and let me know when Nikon had shipped and the estimated time for arrival. Not a service the big suppliers give you.Thatisa special relationship, not just a commercial exchange

Like Australia, no issues in Canada. Many stores have multiple in stock (I’m just outside Toronto, which may be a factor, though even amazon.ca has stock).

Thierry,I'm not sure this will help you all that much, because IIRC, you're in Canada. But, I know a store here in Texas that will PROBABLY have a few in stock. They had two in stock when I called about mine on a Tuesday, and I put one on hold. Then, on Friday when I went to pick it up, they had at least four more in stock. So, if you're interested, give me a PM and I can fill you in on it. Oh, and Rexgig also is aware, and I believe he stated he's seen several there, as well.Sam

The camera on sale at this link is not new but slightly used. No biggie but I prefer buying new and get the 1-year warranty. Formenot worth $300 savings

All in all Nikon works best for me which is what I really care about. Not sure where you saw the word “conversion”But there are Nikon lenses that my Canon shooting friends would like to have. All-in-all the lens battle has just about ended between Canon and Nikon. Most event shooters can do anything with the 24-70 and 70-200 pairing. Sigma now has Zeiss quality primes with AF for both systems. I replaced my Nikon 35 1.4 with the Sigma 35 ART and the Sigma is stunning and AF fast/perfect. The new Sigma 135 ART is stunning as well. There aren't any lens short-comings in either camp that are going to be injurious to a pro's income.Rob
