first RFC: can we get a dark skin too? Easier for the eyes at night! If you click on your icon at the top right you will get a column of icons. The bottom one is a person figure and hovering gives you the word profile.Clicking on the person icon gives a list one of which is a cog for preferences. Click on it and then select interface. In there you can change the colour to one of the darks offered.Hope this helps.Stephen

Not all topics in general (see for example:https://discuss.pixls.us/:https://discuss.pixls.us/categories)So far as I can tell, it's all simply "General".  Given that the site was thrown up so quickly, I'm hopeful that things will eventually be organized.

I would be very wary of signing up to the sitemicro43.org.Especially as we have no information about this guy's credentials. He joined this forum only today. It stinks.BobAlways good to be cautious! Especially when things come out of the blue. I did some basic checking, and the site is registered within the last day, out of North Carolina, registration seems very 'usual', coming thru an ISP in that area, cloud based server - cloudflare, running a popular, established Open Source Forum software which has been around for almost 10 yrs (an epoch in computer time...  LOL). I've had 25 yrs running the IT for a small company, until retirement 3 yrs ago. Went thru everything one gets from a small company with very low computer knowledge staff. Nice folks, but doing all the wrong things for systems & data. Went thru just about every imaginable hardware, software and infections issues, including a 'Ransomware' attack. Anyway, my gut says this is what the site owner says it is... I became a member. I think it's a good deed. Really there's no real info gathered by the forum user registration - a password and an email addy. More chance of all this getting harvested from FB or many other sites... 3 yrs is a long time to be away from it all, but I'm also not guessing... ... If a computer isn;t being backed up on a very regular basis, that's a much bigger issue. Time span between backups indicates how much one is willing to lose if something goes south. Not saying you 'Should' or 'Shouldn't'. Just giving my experience founded opinion, steeped in caution, and scarred by skirmishes in cyberspace.  LOL! Thx Yuri

Chris and Yuri's advice is very good.Always exercise good security hygiene online! Make it a regular habit. All the site asks for is an email address when you sign up, you're not obligated to use one that identifies who you are unless you want to. Please donotreuse a password when you sign up, generate a new random and strong one using a password manager! If you look at the site, you can see it's what the original message says it is: a Discourse powered forum with a domain name that was registered yesterday.Launch NoScript in Firefox or view the source code in a browser console... you can see there's no Google Analytics even. The goal is to offer a gathering space that doesn't have any surveillance scripts, onerous terms, etc.It is definitely an experiment and we shall see how it goes!

not sure if resurrection works.Let's hope it doesn't become a bored monkey habitat,

I do have a question, it seems like the site pulled my emails avatar over and its now my avatar on the site, is that intended? (My email is a microsoft one if that helps)Not really a problem tbh, just a curiosity.

Many people did not like the TOS (terms of service) which some took to mean all their posted images would be owned and used by the new owners. In fact, the TOS are very common amongst many websites and I have never heard yet of anyone having their image used outside of the website itself. I think the furore over the new TOS has been very much a case of misunderstanding. The new owners may not have the same caring attitude as Amin did, but there's nothing wrong with the site as a whole. It's still a fine place to share mages and knowledge, as far as I'm concernedAnd I should add that the numbers of the "exodus" still remain uncertain. It seems a lot of members have come back quietly since the takeover.... lol_____________________________________ Some of the coolest things in life are really, really small. https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddyhays/

As someone who is always scratching her head over the best settings for a particular photo (I shoot mostly macros, so depth of field, speed and light are all critical), I really like being able to see the exif data and camera/lens details. Is there any chance that micro43.org could introduce this at some point? I did find one other m43 forum (sorry, forgot which one) that showed exif data to subscribers, but it seems that several people still couldn't see it after subscribing and weren't impressed with admin support.

I am not surprised that Amin Sabre sold off the site. I posted there around 2010 and kicked off the thread BIRDS under ricseet. Helped built up the traffic.  I had a gut feel that Amin is not truthful person and was in for the money. I deleted all my bird postings. will never go back there again.TheRealYeats wrote:mu-43 had an exodus of users after founder Amin Sabet sold it off to VerticalScope. Here's a link:https://www.mu-43.com/threads/terms-of-service-and-copyright-of-users-content-including-images-are-not-protected.113917/Some of the folks went to Cameraderie.org

Surely running a website for profit is something not entirely unusual in this day and age? Amin's $20 a year subscription was fine by me and many others. I didn't care whether he used to cover his running costs or rolled it up and smoked it, he was charging for a service and he had every right to.And I'm surprised you deleted your content. Were you one of the ones who were worried that their photos were going to be 'stolen'?  Has anyone on mu-43 EVER had their photos stolen? I really do doubt this will ever happen; I'm pretty sure VerticalScope lose ALL of their members as a result, lol_____________________________________ Some of the coolest things in life are really, really small. https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddyhays/
